Group Operations Data Lead

The Group Operations Data Lead is responsible for driving end-to-end data enablement for Group Operations strategic initiatives in terms of designing global solutions that includes technology, analytics, and AI solutions and that are deployed across Local Business Units (LBUs). This role ensures that all solutions – including digital platforms, operational systems, analytical models, and AI use cases – comply with Group solution blueprint, data architecture, data standards, canonical data models, acceptable use policies, and data quality requirements.

The role acts as the central coordination point between Group and LBU architects, Group and LBU data governance, solution owners, and LBU data resources, ensuring that each implementation aligns to the Group Solution Blueprint while allowing LBUs to adapt for local regulatory and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Solution Design (Group Level)

  • Lead the data related activities for Group Operations solutions design and developing the solution blueprint by working closely with the Group Operations workstream leads and LBU data leads and the teams.
  • Ensure compliance of global solution design and its implementation in LBUs with Group data standards, lifecycle rules, classification, lineage, and transformation requirements.
  • Validate compliance with Enterprise Architecture and Acceptable Data Use policies (local & global).
  • Drive data requirements for Group reporting, dashboards, and analytics capabilities.
  • Represent Group Data in the Global Solution Design Authority to approve blueprint decisions.
  • Escalate risks and alignment gaps to the Group Data Governance Council (GDGC).

2. Solution Build & Data Implementation (LBU Execution)

  • Coordinate with LBU Data Teams during implementation of Group solutions.
  • Align local adaptations to Group data models and global blueprint solution design features.
  • Ensure data readiness assessments are completed before build & test.
  • Guide implementation of data pipelines, data quality controls, and data ingestion.
  • Review and approve exceptions; ensure deviations are documented and governed.
  • Work with the LBU data team and LBU and Group Solutions team to resolve any data related issues that hinder the progress of solution implementation
  • Facilitate mapping of local data to Group canonical data structures and reporting sets.
  • Ensure the LBU has a clear path to remediation of data quality issues.

3. Solution Testing, Deployment & Maintenance

  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing data readiness and scenario coverage.
  • Validate data quality and compliance before solution go-live.
  • Ensure data standard compliance for dashboards and AI models used regionally or globally.
  • Support Group dashboards maintained by the Group Data Team; enable LBU insight dashboards.
  • Provide ongoing oversight to ensure continued alignment to Group data blueprint.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computing/information technology
  • 10+ years in Data lifecycle Management including data quality, data architecture, data delivery, data standards, meta data, master data, acceptable data use, data risk and data governance. Experience in developing and executing data strategy is an added advantage
  • Understanding and hands on experience of analytical and operational data stores, model feature data, data labelling, model governance, data readiness assessment
  • Proven experience implementing data quality, metadata, lineage, privacy, acceptable usage governance
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams across Group & multiple countries/LBUs
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders and negotiate blueprint adoption in federated environments
  • Insurance or Financial Services experience preferred (Party/Policy/Claims/Advisor/Health data models advantageous)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure or Google Cloud
  • Proven track record managing delivery teams of data professionals e.g. data analyst, data architect, data modeler, for at least 4+ years
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data needs of the business into competitive advantage/business value creation
  • Strong team player with cross-functional and cross-geography collaboration skills, partnering with multiple technical and business teams, and external vendors to come to a common solution.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical capabilities
