LOCATION: Glasgow, Bristol. Edinburgh or Leeds

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Glasgow, Bristol, Edinburgh or Leeds office location.

Ready to make an impact that matters? The Technology & Scenario Exercising Assistant Manager will help the Group in preventing, adapting to, responding to and recovering operational disruptions. This is accomplished by positioning technology initiatives at the core of our operational resilience, severe but plausible, scenario tests. This role is essential for meeting our Grow, Focus, and Change goals and progressing our wider mission to help Britain prosper.   

You’ll be part of the Group Operational Resilience Central Scenario Exercising Team responsible for planning and managing the Group’s Operational Resilience Scenario Exercising program. This includes the creation, development, and delivery of both agnostic and third-party scenario exercises in alignment with the Group’s exercising landscape and associated regulatory requirements.  

The ideal candidate is motivated by our values and dedicated to becoming part of a team of Group Operational Resilience specialists, with impact reaching across the Group. They will play a pivotal role in shaping, developing, and delivering on our scenario testing technology capability. Specifically, this will include:  

  • Developing a deep knowledge of Group Operational Resilience scenario testing, recognizing areas where technology initiatives can be incorporated into routine business activities. 
  • Using cloud-based operational resilience and workflow management platforms such as Fusion and ServiceNow, to review and present scenario testing process results. Collect feedback from the Scenario Testing team to convert these results into actionable user stories that consistently support advancements to tooling. 
  • Assisting with scenario testing important functions like analysing data inputs that establish the scenario testing scope, scenario development, and helping facilitate workshops, as well as report writing. This entails engaging with significant external parties to comprehend their reactions to severe, but plausible, scenarios. 
  • Ongoing input and supervision of scenario testing data capture and reporting in Fusion Risk Management for all scenario testing efforts within scope. Manage complex datasets and partner with others to uncover opportunities for refining processes, simplifying data, automating workflows, and advancing integration. 
  • Defining scenario testing applications for AI automation (CoPilot agents). 
  • Project management and oversight of key scenario testing technology-related activities, working closely with key business and technology collaborators. 
  • Providing updates on progress against plan on technology priorities, inputting into critical Group-wide governance initiatives. 
  • Collaboration with the broader Group Operational Resilience teams to exchange findings.

What you’ll need

  • Technical data analytic skills including experience in interpreting and transforming data from various sources, and converting this information into actionable insights. The capability to critically review and question technological innovation efforts and multiple data streams to maintain a unified source of truth. 
  • Experience in supporting scenario exercising across multiple different collaborator groups. 
  • Experience working with cloud-based operational resilience and workflow management platforms such as Fusion and ServiceNow. 
  • Experience working with workplace AI tools like CoPilot, showing proficiency in designing test scenarios for AI automation. Engage actively in building a scenario testing function centered on technology. 
  • Experience in developing and managing specific data sets to a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and influencing skills at all levels. 
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks effectively by priority. 
  • Ability to grasp complex issues promptly, with the skill to convey intricate topics clearly and concisely. 
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, tools, and ways of working. 

And any experience in the following would be beneficial:

  • Operational Resilience, Crisis Management or Incident Management experience.  
  • Experience of Critical Third Party engagement. 
  • Previous experience working in the Financial Services industry.
