Entertainment Service Development Department (ESDD) has provided several entertainment services, such as Rakuten Books, Rakuten Ticket, Rakuten Music, etc. ESDD is the development team for those services.
Department Overview
Books Service Section at ESDD is responsible for the development and maintenance of Rakuten Books' entertainment content services.
Rakuten Books is Rakuten's oldest direct sales model e-commerce service, so it provides a wide variety of service functions and supports many systems products.
Specifically, our section develops and supports a wide range of systems including Frontend (UI/UX), Backend (order/shipping management), Item procurement, BI, BPM, and Accounting, and our organizational structure is over 100 ppl.
Along with the growth of our services every year, we not only improve our services and expand their functions, but also recently we have started many projects that involve other departments to demonstrate the synergy between services.

Position Details
- Responsible for the human resource development and management of the team within your assigned organization
- Responsible for developing and planning the services and products in charge, and drawing up development plans after clarifying objectives and ROI
- Work closely with business members to control project priorities
- Determine the optimal solution for system implementation in consultation with engineer members and incorporate it into specifications
- Conduct external relations, coordination, and communications with external and internal parties as the project progresses
- Responsible for service operation, and in happened system problem, will take countermeasures and confirm the impact on the service
- Measure the effectiveness and major KPIs after the service launch, clarify the next improvement points, and run the PDCA cycle
Work Environment
This is a crucial position where you will lead development projects as a PJM for a team of about 10 to 20 people. If you demonstrate the capability, you will also be entrusted with organizational management.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience of project management
- 4+ years of experience of WEB service development
- 3+ years of Organization and Human Resource management over 10 ppl
- Business requirement analysis skill
- Strong willingness to work across job functions for the success of the project
- High communication skills to reach consensus with people from various backgrounds/positions
- English TOEIC 800 above or possess equivalent abilities
Desired Qualifications:
- Japanese communication ability (Japanese N2 or above)
- Use experience of project management tool (JIRA/Confluence)
