Job Description:

The Production Group Leader is responsible for operating equipment and performing machine set-ups as needed, overseeing daily operations within the production area to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met. This role leads a team of production associates, coordinates workflow, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to meet organizational goals.

           

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs production tasks such as working on the production floor as needed, helping with machine set-ups, planning, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Direct and support production team members to achieve daily targets.
  • Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and safety.

Production Management:

  • Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and operational procedures.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits.
  • Address and report any safety concerns promptly.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Support lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives.

Communication & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate production records and report key metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (maintenance, quality, logistics).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School or equivalent required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Mechanical aptitude, basic math, computer use, forklift experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, at least 1 year in a leadership role a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

This position directs daily work and does not directly supervise other team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and machinery.
