What You Will Do:

Reporting to the VP, Assistant General Counsel, the Group Counsel will advise on global trade laws and customs compliance. This role supports the Trade Compliance team and helps implement product quality standards across the company. You’ll work closely with teams in trade, quality, engineering, supply chain, and compliance to ensure our products, contracts, and operations meet legal and regulatory requirements.

How You Will Do It:

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor for Trade Compliance, including export controls, import regulations, sanctions, customs, tariffs and global trade risks.

  • Lead trade strategy and external communications.

  • Provide legal guidance on valuation and classification matters.

  • Develop and implement compliance procedures and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Monitor adherence to compliance protocols and deliver training on identified high-risk areas.

  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to ensure compliant product development and market entry.

  • Partner with compliance and regulatory teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks across the product lifecycle.

  • Support internal investigations, audits, and dispute resolution related to trade and product quality issues.

  • Sponsor enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance legal and compliance governance.

  • Provide legal support for M&A due diligence and new ventures as needed.

  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support global operations.

What We Look For:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S.

  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience in-house or at a law firm, preferably supporting industrial products and equipment.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Trade Compliance (e.g., export controls, import regulations, sanctions, customs law).

  • Experience in Quality Compliance (e.g., product labeling, regulatory approvals, environmental standards).

  • Experience with M&A and managing outside counsel globally is a plus.

  • Exceptional legal drafting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to influence across a matrixed organization and build trust with senior leadership.

NOTE: This is can be a hybrid position at our Glendale, WI office or a virtual/remote position. We are considering candidates who reside within the United States.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $112,000 - $168,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
