Job Summary:
This position oversees the daily supervision and coordination of TM’s in the Grounds Department across multiple corporate locations. The Grounds Supervisor will care for and maintain campus landscape areas, including flower beds, shrubs, trees, grass, irrigation systems, weed control, and new landscape projects, outlining task frequency and expectations. They will also handle the repair and maintenance of parking lots and parking lot lights. Familiarity with all aspects of Grounds and Landscape duties is required, including equipment operation, fertilizing, irrigation, hardscaping, plantings, turf and ornamental bed manicuring, horticulture, mulching, snow and ice management, mowing, and other related tasks as a Grounds and Landscape Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead, enforce, and participate in workplace safety initiatives, ensuring safe working conditions, proper tool and equipment use, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Supervise, motivate, train, and evaluate grounds staff (seasonal and FTE), ensuring team members are trained on safety procedures and equipment operation. Maintain a preventative maintenance program for all equipment, ordering repair parts and supplies as needed. Proactively develop, implement, and supervise work and shift schedules based on priorities, employee availability, equipment, resources, and weather conditions. Conduct monthly safety meetings, coordinate ongoing team training, and handle other responsibilities as needed. Support operations teams by ensuring a safe, customer-focused environment. Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining records of preventative maintenance, inspections of parking lots, lights, and grounds equipment. Oversee the maintenance and repair of outdoor facilities, including irrigation systems, fences, electrical systems, carpentry, and plumbing. Manage grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, and flower bed care. Oversee snow and ice removal from parking lots and sidewalks and coordinate repairs and services for parking lots and lighting with contractors when necessary. Have the ability to perform all of the above maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment as needed, and perform preventive maintenance, ensuring that the grounds are clean, safe, and functioning properly.
Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience in Grounds Maintenance, Horticulture, or Landscaping with a management or technical focus. Certifications in landscape design, irrigation design, horticulture, or agronomy are advantageous. Must be able to attain and retain DOT Certification
Experience: At least 3 years of industry experience, either in facilities management, third-party service provision, or a similar environment; experience managing multiple suppliers and capital projects is preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in computers, including creating spreadsheets; familiarity with AutoCAD and SAP is preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills: Must uphold high levels of customer service and coach team members on diplomatic customer interactions. Ability to manage and perform skilled landscaping tasks with attention to detail for grounds and parking lot areas. Knowledge of standard groundskeeping equipment and landscaping supplies is required.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly to move objects. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, handle stress effectively, and deliver excellent customer service. May be required to work in challenging weather conditions, including snow, ice, and extreme temperatures.
Supervisory: Responsible for supervising personnel within a single department or work unit performing related tasks. Some weekend supervision may be required.
Travel: Limited travel between local buildings in Northwest Arkansas.
