The LSUE Physical Plant Department is responsible for providing a properly functioning physical facility that is clean and safe for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The role of the Grounds Supervisor is to maintain open lines of communications and receive direction from the supervisor (Director of Physical Plant and Safety Coordinator) and in turn provide supervision and leadership to the employees assigned to the Grounds Unit. In addition, the Grounds Supervisor ensures that the daily operational functions and required work assignments are properly coordinated and successfully completed on consistent and timely basis.
Examples and a summary of duties are as follows:
Supervise and coordinate grounds staff of approximately 6 individuals, caring for approximately 100 acres of grounds including but not limited to grass cutting, tree trimming, trash disposal, grounds maintenance, parking lot maintenance, beautification improvements and maintenance, setting up and breaking down stages, tables, chairs, etc., for activities such as commencement, community functions, etc.
Oversee the service/maintain a fleet of approximately 50 automobiles, trucks, buses, utility vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers, and other equipment.
Approve, schedule and maintain employee’s leave, time and attendance records, equipment records, inventory control of movable equipment, facilitate hands on and on line trainings for employees etc.
Purchase and issue to subordinates the necessary products, supplies, parts, etc., needed to maintain the baseball field, flower beds, campus lawns, trees, tractors, implements, vehicles, etc.
Monitor and control incoming and outgoing of fuel, oil, chemicals and other supplies & materials needed for operations of the campus.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant and Safety Coordinator.
