In order to provide continued support to the customer, we are looking for an Vertical Lift (VL) MRO Aircraft Ground Crew Supervisor,. who will form part of a Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) organisation within BDUK at Wattisham Airfield, working as part of a team in support of our key programmes. The individual will be responsible for ensuring established process adherence, accurate and timely work recording and contractual/regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will provide leadership, oversight and mentoring to the ground Crew team, ensuring adherence to regulatory, contractual and safety requirements. The role requires a strong understanding of aviation maintenance processes, personnel management, and operational coordination to maintain schedule performance and high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the MRO Ground Crew team to deliver all aircraft handling and movement activities, including aircraft starts, shutdowns, towing, marshalling and refuelling operations.
Ensure compliance with MAA MRP Part 145 regulations, aviation safety standards, and Boeing’s internal processes and procedures.
Allocate, sequence and monitor daily workloads to ensure schedule adherence, quality standards, and resource optimisation.
Oversee and verify that all tasks are completed in accordance with approved technical data, ensuring first-time quality and safety compliance.
Provide direction, coaching, and professional development to team members, including Apprentices and Trainees, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Exercise authority to mitigate immediate operational risks, including the ability to initiate “stop work” actions when required, and escalate emerging risks promptly.
Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to coordinate aircraft movements and ensure operational continuity.
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting Lean principles and best practices across the MRO organisation.

Support the Operations Management Team in driving performance, process improvement, FOD prevention and workplace excellence initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
Recognised relevant trade or technical training in an aviation discipline.
Proven experience in aircraft ground handling, movement operations, or maintenance environments, ideally within military or defence sectors.
Demonstrated experience in leading or supervising teams in an aviation or engineering context.
Sound knowledge of Human Factors, FOD control, tool control, Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
Strong understanding of MAA Regulatory Articles (RA), MRP Part 145, and Quality Assurance / Safety Management System (SMS) principles.
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities under pressure.
Competent IT skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to work flexibly and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Previous military aviation experience desirable but not essential.
