Brandeis University is seeking a Graphic Designer in the Marketing and Communications department. The Graphic Designer will create effective and compelling design solutions for print and digital platforms that work within the framework of the institution's overall visual identity and messaging in collaboration with the Office of Marketing Communications colleagues and university partners that support the university’s strategic goals related to student enrollment, reputation building, and fundraising.
The salary range for the position is $65k-$71.4k
Job Description
Function 1: Designer 60%
Design strategic and complex projects for mission critical initiatives that support the university’s strategic goals related to student enrollment, reputation building and fundraising.
Design projects for a range of platforms including print pieces, digital projects (web, social media, email and advertising) and signage that adhere to the university’s brand standards and messaging.
Art direct photographers and illustrators.
Adhere to deadlines and budgetary considerations.
Function 2: Communication and Collaboration 15%
Communicate and work seamlessly with the Director of Integrated Design and other Marketing Communication team members as well as campus partners in generating new design concepts or working from existing ones.
Communicate with project team in all stages of design.
Work collaboratively with Communications colleagues and campus partners to initiate new and innovative projects.
Function 3: Production 15%
Prepare design files for print and digital platforms independently and communicate with various types of vendors.
Assist in archiving projects and other production tasks as needed.
Function 4: Presentations 10%
Make presentations and clearly communicate concepts to partners.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
3-5 years of related experience
Superior knowledge of print design, including an in-depth knowledge of typography.
Advanced experience designing and producing art for a digital platform.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated excellence with MAC OS platform and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) as well as Microsoft Office.
An impeccable attention to detail. An ability to work autonomously, quickly, and effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
Professional attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
Photo retouching and illustration skills as well as motion graphics experience a plus.
