The Opportunity:
Working under general supervision as a member of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine Office of Research, you will serve as a Grant and Contracts Analyst Lead. In this role, you will independently plan, coordinate, and conduct grant and contract reviews in accordance with GAAP, applicable statutes, and regulations.
You will perform a range of professional financial reviews and analyses of fiscal, grant, and budget data. Your responsibilities include preparing annual budget projections, developing and monitoring grant budgets, and advising the Grant and Contracts Manager and faculty on funding matters.
You will consult with principal investigators and funding agencies to complete the fiscal and administrative review of proposals, and you will prepare proposal documents for submission to institutional officials. Additionally, you will review and approve budget actions that support and facilitate grant and contract awards.
Your additional responsibilities will include analyzing budget forecasts and working directly with several research centers across WSU. You will respond to questions about sponsor intent and ensure compliance with fiscal and administrative requirements. Additionally, you will interpret regulations and policies for faculty, staff, and other interested parties. In this role, you represent the department in research activities and will attend meetings with other departments or external agencies as needed.
The responsibilities of the Grant and Contracts Analyst Lead have a direct impact on the workload of the researcher and research staff who manage awards, and on the success of procuring awards. In this position, you must be able to bridge the gap between research and administration and must be capable of compiling the data concisely, in a consumable format.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $5,137 to $6,906 (Steps A - M) | Range #55 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and two (2) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent education/experience.
Experience with fiscal functions including budgets, contracts, and grants.
Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team in a cooperative effort.
Demonstrated advanced-level experience using MS Office Suite including Excel and SharePoint.
Exceptional skills in written and verbal communication, to include fostering a shared understanding of requirements, group resolution, and status reporting.
Experience with various financial activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, travel, cost analysis and/or budget planning.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and/or knowledge of state and federal laws/regulations pertaining to fiscal management.
Experience with electronic grant submission and online submission sites.
Experience with WSU or higher education system, which includes familiarity with a mainframe system, personnel processes, budget experience and fiscal process.
Knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and WSU Business Policies and Procedures.
Experience with Workday.
