United Kingdom Full Time

Introduction

Are you passionate about deep tech and driven to make a meaningful difference through technology?

Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate biologist, clinical scientist, bioengineer or similar, keen to apply your technical appreciation of biological processes or medical devices to guide investment and business decisions? Are you interested in the difference between science that changes the world and technologies that seem full of promise but are never realised? Are you fascinated by the changing way things are made and consumed and want to shape the future? Do you have a curious mindset and the drive to uncover challenges in making bio-innovation work at a cost and scale that makes sense?

Join our Advisory team and help shape the future of industries by translating breakthrough science into real-world impact!

This role is open to graduates and those due to graduate, with a flexible start date in 2026.

We recruit on a rolling basis and will close the advert once the position is filled, so we encourage early applications.

Who we are

A critical part of Cambridge Consultants, our Advisory group provides clients with strategic advice at the interface between science, technology and the commercial needs of business.

We deliver projects across industrial, consumer, climate tech, energy, telecoms, security, biotech and healthcare sectors. Our clients vary from ambitious start-ups to multinationals, but all aspire to use cutting-edge technology to disrupt their markets. What we do is help them succeed.

Our work delivers insights for key business decisions related to deep tech: developing go-to-market strategies, providing investment support, competitor analyses, market insights and technology road-mapping. The technologies we work with are broad and include the latest advances in synthetic biology, artificial intelligence, molecular and cellular diagnostics, robotic surgery and bio-innovation, among others.

Your Role

This role sits within the ‘Research & Insights’ section of our Advisory group, forming part of a growing capability around the bioeconomy. The capability is focused on realising the value of innovative ways to make the physical goods we consume, navigating the transition of approaches emerging from research into real-world industrial environments and delivering impact for people and planet. Our team provides impactful advice to our clients and your opinions will directly make a difference to driving new ways of thinking and getting ideas off the ground.

What you will be doing

  • Gathering information through primary and secondary research;
  • Analysing information, data and trends to develop strategic insights for clients;
  • Technical or commercial modelling of project-specific data for business case development, solutions, financial modelling and market sizing;
  • Recognising and communicating the value and impact of technologies in the near to long term and considering challenges in recognising the potential opportunities they bring;
  • Supporting the development of business propositions, market insights and other initiatives that shape our own strategy;
  • Developing reports and presentations of findings to internal teams and clients;
  • Learning on the job and developing a wide range of consulting skills.

What you will bring

We are looking for applicants with the following traits and skills:

  • A background in biological sciences, bioengineering, healthcare technologies, bio materials, industrial processes or similar, with strong academic grades;
  • A passion for technology and innovation;
  • Excellent team-working skills;
  • A well-organised and structured approach/mindset;
  • A potential to spot opportunities and a desire to solve problems;
  • Excellent oral and written communication engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders and crafting compelling narratives;

The following would be advantageous, but we would still encourage you to apply without:

  • Demonstrable ability to distil results and draw meaningful conclusions from data;
  • Experience in bringing to life the potential of a technology through a student business plan competition, entrepreneurship society or similar additional business or strategy learning;
  • Any relevant experience gained through an internship or in a similar role in a consultancy or service-based industry;

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful work: Help shape strategies that accelerate innovation and improve lives.
  • Variety and challenge: No two projects are the same so expect to work across healthcare, biotech, sustainability and biosecurity amongst others.
