What you will do:

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing, integrating, and validating complex embedded systems. Working across hardware, software, and mechanical domains, you’ll contribute to projects from concept through to delivery, helping ensure our systems perform flawlessly in the most demanding environments.

Your day-to- day will include:

  • Working with our customers and key stakeholders to understand and capture the system level use cases, concept of operations and requirements.
  • Development of the system architecture.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders across Systems, Software, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering and developing requirement specifications for each component of the system.
  • Supporting system integration for real-time embedded systems, including hardware/software interfaces
  • Ensuring requirement-to-requirement and requirements-to-test traceability throughout the design
  • Developing test cases and procedures against the requirements and executing tests
  • Applying logical and innovative problem-solving across software, hardware, and system levels
  • System requirements analysis, generation of requirement specifications and compliance tracking 
  • All aspects of the product development lifecycle
  • Product qualification and testing
  • System modelling, algorithm development and data analysis 

Skills and Experience:

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of the full development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of requirements analysis
  • Understanding of architectural design and decomposition.
  • Be aware of internal (board/board or processor/peripheral) and external (unit to unit/network) data bus standards.
  • Understanding of test plans, test cases and procedures and executing test programmes.
  • Awareness of requirements management tools such as DOORS (or Jama or similar)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (SVN, Git, Teamwork Cloud)

Desirable:

  • Experience with SysML tools such as EA (or Cameo) is preferred 
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Experience of algorithm development and specification.
  • Data analysis and algorithm development experience, including MATLAB
  • Electrical or software design and development experience
  • Experience using COTS test equipment in a lab environment (oscilloscopes, bus analysers, etc.)
  • Experience with auto-code generation using MATLAB

Qualifications we prefer: 

  • Self-motivated, diligent and excited by STEM subjects
  • You will be studying Engineering, Mathematics or another closely related discipline at University and expect to graduate in 2028
  • A keen interest in product development within military or civil aerospace 
  • Competent in technical report writing and presentations 
  • A team player and effective communicator 
  • Able to multi-task and prioritise own work
