About the Role

The Central Analytics team drives evidence-based decision-making throughout Twitch. As researchers and thought leaders, we leverage foundational data, sophisticated ML models and cornerstone analyses  to inform product strategy, guide business decisions, and unlock new capabilities. Our interdisciplinary team brings together experts in data science, machine learning, and user research to continuously innovate and improve the world's leading live-streaming platform.

Our team is seeking an exceptional intern with demonstrated proficiency in applying machine learning and statistical methods to extract valuable insights from complex data. We value creative problem-solvers who possess a strong analytical foundation and the communication skills necessary to thrive in a collaborative environment. Our problems cover many different aspects of user behavior on Twitch, from predictive modeling of onsite viewer engagement and commerce activity, to advanced fine-grained cohort analyses of user behavior and their evolution on Twitch. The ideal candidate possesses strong quantitative reasoning skills to design and implement data science workflows, identify key patterns within large datasets, apply appropriate statistical methods, and translate those findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

You Will:

  • Drive Twitch’s understanding of users and their activity through ownership of research projects from data collection to model development, estimation, and validation
  • Identify and pursue projects with significant business impact, and make compelling cases for prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with specialists in data science, analytics, engineering, and economics disciplines to efficiently develop reliable and reproducible analyses at scale.
  • Deliver well-documented datasets, tools, and reports to key technical and business stakeholders.

You Have:

  • MS in data science, machine learning, computer science, statistics, or highly related field OR 2+ years experience on a data, research, or applied science team OR equivalent applied research experience
  • Adherence to good coding standards and working knowledge of SoTA machine learning techniques, including forecasting, time-series modeling, natural language processing (NLP)  and unsupervised learning. Fluency in data-science tools: Python, R, SQL, and associated AI/ML libraries.
  • Maintain proficiency with version control systems to ensure collaborative development and reproducibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills on quantitative topics
  • Keen judgment for balancing research depth and pacing

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $46.88/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $88.94/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
