Graduate Admission Communications Specialist

USC’s Office of Graduate Admission is seeking a Graduate Admission Communications Specialist to join its team.  This role will primarily correspond via email with current and prospective graduate applicants, process application fee waivers,  assist with credential evaluation and transfer credit processing as needed and conduct transcript audits at the end of the admission cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with graduate applicants regarding their application status, admission requirements and required documentation.
  • Review, authorize, and process application fee waiver requests.
  • Assist with transcript evaluations , GPA calculations and international graduate transfer credit processing
  • Conduct transcript audits at the conclusion of the admission cycle.
  • Provide timely and culturally sensitive responses to applicant inquiries, including applicants from diverse national backgrounds and varying levels of English proficiency (over 50% of applicants are international)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer-service orientation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse personalities and professional styles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong critical thinking, technical and research skills, including experience working with databases

The hourly rate for this position is $26.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Skills: Knowledgeable about international educational credentials to evaluate any document or transcript presented. Counsels students with heterogeneous backgrounds. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills: Admissions experience in a university setting. Knowledge of languages. Overseas experience. Computer skills.
