As a Government Technology Director, you will leverage your influence, expertise and relationships to deliver quality results for Public Sector clients while driving business growth for PwC's Government & Public Sector team. You will:
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Growth
Lead sector and account growth within G&PS go-to-market strategies specifically focussed on technology and AI enabling services.
Build and deepen client relationships with senior technology, data, AI and operational leaders across Government and Public Sector.
Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities in key accounts
Lead end to end business development cycle across technology opportunities, including proposal development and client pitches for major government contracts
Drive market awareness of PwC’s technology and AI capabilities in Public Sector.
Achieve annual business development and managed revenue targets
Expand PwC's presence across priority subsectors, including Transport, Housing and wider government sectors
2. Client Leadership & Advisory
Oversee the development and implementation of technology and AI solutions enabling future-state operating models, organisational structures, and workforce strategies.
Lead the design, build and implementation of Government technology and AI solutions, overseeing requirements definition, solution architecture, workflow redesign, configuration, testing, go-live readiness and adoption support.
Advise senior leaders on technology and AI and translate digital strategies into executable delivery roadmaps.
Diagnose system challenges related to, for example, legacy technology, fragmented data, operational bottlenecks and digital capability gaps. Develop innovative, pragmatic solutions grounded in technology and AI trends, sector evidence and practical delivery experience to support clients in addressing identified challenges.
Ensure delivery of high-quality outputs aligned to client expectations, project goals and PwC standards
Apply and champion project management and change management methodologies across transformation initiatives
Collaborate with clients to co-create solutions that address complex organisational challenges
Drive benefits realisation and sustained value creation across engagements
3. Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government stakeholders and decision-makers
Anticipate stakeholder needs, developing and discussing potential solutions pre-emptively
Navigate political and operational complexities with confidence and credibility
Facilitate stakeholder engagement at the most senior levels
4. Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop teams of technology and AI Senior Managers and Managers
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
Foster an inclusive and collaborative team environment
Recruit and retain top talent with public sector expertise
Contribute to the overall capability development of the G&PS practice
5. Technical & Sector Expertise
Technology Directors are expected to bring deep expertise in several of the following areas:
Government technology road mapping and transformation planning.
AI applications in government, operational or administrative contexts;
Government technology systems (e.g. Case Management, Customer Relationship Management, Grants Management, Citizen Services).
Technology enabled transformation, including cloud migration and operating model redesign.
Performance improvement and productivity programmes enabled by digital tools.
Capital, technology procurement and vendor management across the health ecosystem.
Your Profile
10–12+ years’ experience in technology or technology transformation in Government or Public Sector consulting.
Deep understanding of the Irish Government / Public Sector’s technology landscape, policy context, and current transformation programmes.
Strong track record of leading complex technology, data and AI programmes within large‑scale environments.
Proven ability to influence senior executives on technology decisions.
Strong commercial acumen with a record of building pipeline, developing proposals and winning new digital and data work.
Ability to translate complex technology, data and AI challenges into clear strategic pathways and measurable outcomes.
Experience leading multidisciplinary delivery teams and leveraging global expertise.
Commitment to innovation, digital enablement, emerging technologies and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Relevant undergraduate and / or Master’s degree in a technology related field.
Relevant professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum/Agile, vendor certifications.
