The Government Affairs Specialist supports Strategies’ Federal Government Affairs team in our Washington, D.C., conducting high-level federal policy work across healthcare, technology, energy, and financial services. Additionally, the Government Affairs Specialist provides significant exposure to federal policymaking, client engagement, and the operations of a top-tier bipartisan lobbying and strategic advisory practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitor and synthesize congressional hearings, markups, agency announcements, and key policy developments.
Produce concise memos, briefing materials, and PowerPoint decks for client meetings and internal strategy sessions.
Schedule, coordinate, and attend meetings with congressional offices, federal agencies, and coalition partners.
Draft and distribute client deliverables, including summaries, policy alerts, and meeting notes.
Maintain legislative tracking systems and update team calendars and priority lists.
Participate in client calls and team strategy meetings; capture action items and follow up on next steps.
Conduct background research on legislative issues, federal programs, and key policymakers.
Manage administrative and logistical needs to keep the team running smoothly, including meeting preparation, printing, and deliveries.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field.
Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in a government office, association, or consulting/lobbying environment.
Familiarity with legislative tracking tools beneficial.
