About this Position

ChristianaCare is searching for a Government Affairs Specialist to be responsible for supporting the organization’s strategic advocacy and community engagement priorities and supporting policy research briefing materials and advocacy toolkits to advance ChristianaCare’s strategic priorities.  This position will also build strong working relationships with elected officials, community members, grassroots coalitions, issue advocates and external coalition partners.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with defined groups of government officials and other external stakeholders and advocates in the health care, business, government, and non-profit sectors in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Supporting scheduling, logistical coordination, contract lobbyist deployment, data collection, project management and development of talking points, toolkits, legislative briefing materials, community benefit updates and social media content to support advocacy and engagement priorities in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Developing and maintaining a consistent cadence of regular status updates to internal and external stakeholders about engagement and advocacy activities, in collaboration with other team members.
  • Supporting policy research and analysis, including legislative or regulatory comment letters and research briefs, along with executive briefing materials for meetings and engagement events.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable lobbying disclosure and reporting requirements and assists with lobbying reporting and tracking.

PLEASE NOTE: Occasional off site travel will be required on an as needed basis.

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration or related field, required.
  • Exceptional judgment and outstanding verbal and written communications skills required.
  • 2 or more years of professional experience in government affairs, policy, advocacy, state or federal government or community organizations focusing on regulatory or legislative policy development, coalition-building, and/or local governmental relations in Delaware, Maryland or Pennsylvania strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with elected officials and staff, regulators, internal and external stakeholders, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an objective, non-partisan manner and with diverse populations required.
  • Willingness to be a team player.

Annual Compensation Range $73,611.20 - $117,790.40

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
