Job Description

About the role

Role Title: Government Affairs Director

Report to: Head, China Corporate Affair

Location: Beijing, China
 

As a Government Affairs Director, you will be responsible for developing strategy to engage with central and local government organizations and trade associations in China, so as to serve the purposes to lobbying government regulations; advising and representing the company on policy issues; working with cross function teams to protect and promote corporate reputation; shaping favorable business operations environment from external perspectives. 

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…

  • Establish direct link and maintain strong working relations with central government key organization including but not limit to MIIT, NDRC, MoFCOM, Customs, State Market Supervision and Regulation, Ministry of Health, etc.
  • Engage with medical / pharmaceutical related government agencies or organizations in collaboration with Commercial Access team so as to develop consensus positions for favorable policies and regulations, clearer policy interpretation, and consistency in law enforcements at different government levels
  • Policy Analysis, mapping and lobbying to influence key think tanks, key opinion leaders, and national congressmen.
  • Represent the company at national level industry trade associations and international government bodies, chamber of commerce to advocate company positions, promote company reputation, and establish company’s thought leadership position
  • Arrange meetings with senior level government officials and company’s senior executives as well as prepare briefing documents for management on lobbying activities and status of our priorities.
  • Work together with sales / marketing / medical affairs / regulatory / manufacturing teams in China to address business issues, identify opportunities, and safeguard company’s freedom of trade

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Direct matching work experience
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience dealing with complex legislative and regulatory issues
