The role involves guiding and overseeing a dynamic First Line (1LOD) Governance & Control team, which holds responsibility for managing the control environment in the HL business, including the following activities:
Responsible for supervising operational risk, ensuring effective management, conducting thorough reviews, and providing comprehensive reports on all risk matters within the home loans business.
Ensuring that all functions and duties are performed in strict compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
Driving the Governance and Control strategy to achieve operational excellence throughout the Home Loans value chain.
Providing guidance to ensure all operational activities align with the business's risk appetite.
Establishing, monitoring, and delivering on business performance standards.
Strong expertise in governance, control, and fraud risk, with clear communication and attention to detail.
Advocating for a data-driven approach to fraud management and reporting.
Risk Management: Offer expertise across risk categories.
Stakeholder Management: Establish and sustain strong stakeholder relationships.
Risk Reporting: Identify, assess, and report major risks from events, investigations, audits, and control issues.
People Management: Build a high-performing team.
Risk and Control: Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations.
