What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting hiring range for this position is $60,064.00-$75,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include, but are not limited to:

Location

Leading up to and during the golf season (April – November), you can expect to work on-site at Evergreen Golf Course. At 7,220 feet, Evergreen is Denver’s mountain jewel golf course. This 18-hole course sits along Bear Creek. Rolling hills and fairways lined with pine trees make this mountain golf experience just a short drive from the city.

From December – March, you can expect to work on-site at Evergreen Golf Course and across Denver’s eight golf facilities, based on needs, supporting year-round operations and programs.

Denver Golf’s diverse portfolio includes one 27-hole regulation golf course, four 18-hole regulation golf courses, one 18-hole mountain golf course, two 9-hole par three golf courses, two Miniature Golf facilities, five driving ranges (including the signature Aqua Golf water range), six Restaurants, and Denver Junior Golf - The First Tee of Denver (one of the largest Junior Golf programs in the country). Denver Golf is looking to hire a Golf Course Operator to join their team at Evergreen Golf Course. Just a short drive from downtown, Evergreen Golf Course, a part of Denver’s Mountain Park system, was completed in 1926 and provides an exceptional 18-hole golf course experience to visitors. It takes a dedicated team of professionals to ensure Denver’s most iconic course can be enjoyed for generations to come. As a Golf Course Operator, you will play a key role in Denver Golf’s mission to be a national leader in the golf industry regarding accessibility, diversity, environmental stewardship, and building the game for the future.

As a Golf Course Operator, you will mainly work on the Pro Shop Operations side. Duties will include:

• Design, implement and market pace of play and tournament programs to increased course revenue and enhance customer satisfaction
• Collaborate with Parks and Recreation Marketing team to create and implement innovative marketing initiatives for the course
• Manage the operations of the pro shop and golf car fleet; supervising personnel involved in the staging, marketing, appearance and profitability of golf car fleet
• Oversee all retail aspects of the pro shop
• Respond to guest concerns in a professional manner, and ensure staff maintain/exceed our top-notch customer service standards
• Work with Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate daily play, tournament and other golf activities, to balance play and conditioning to appropriate levels; to provide maximum service and enhance revenue
• Assist with development of departmental budget, and conduct general accounting duties
• Enforce golf course rules and regulations and maintain PGA standards and policies
• Develop performance evaluation program for functions within the unit, monitors and documents employee performance, provides ongoing feedback regarding levels of performance, and formally evaluates employees in relation to performance
• Submit timecards on time and accurately
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Strong management and team building skills
• PGA or LPGA member or apprentice who has completed level 2 and is in good standing preferred, but not required
• Experience assisting with golf tournaments and all aspects of a golf retail operation
• Experience assisting with managing and influencing a high volume of employees
• Experience as an assistant golf professional or head pro preferred but not required
• Experience using an industry preferred point of sale and Teesheet software preferred
• Superior attention to detail and organization skills
• Basic understanding of accounting and budgeting
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Process oriented and logical thinking skills

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education requirement- Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Experience requirement- Five (5) years of experience in assisting in the operation of a golf course, or in golf course maintenance.
• Education & Experience Equivalency- Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
