Job Description

In the GM Defense - FP&A Automation & Data Analyst role, we are seeking an FP&A Analyst with strong analytical fundamentals and demonstrated experience using automation and data analytics to improve financial insight and efficiency. This role supports complex defense programs and focuses on forecasting, performance analysis, and scalable reporting, with an emphasis on reducing manual effort and improving data quality.  Given the fast-paced nature of this growth business there will be frequent opportunities to support special projects/analysis and get exposure to senior leadership. This position is ideal for an analyst who thrives in finance, systems, and analytics and wants to help modernize FP&A processes with engagement in program-level financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute opportunities to reduce manual reporting and reconciliations
  • Develop scalable tools to support recurring FP&A activities (forecasting, monthly close analytics, rates analysis, management reporting)
  • Build and maintain financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, and program‑level decision making
  • Apply AI, automation, and advanced analytics to improve data quality, enhance forecasting accuracy, and reduce manual effort across FP&A workflows
  • Verify data integrity of different interfaces between systems feeding GMD ERP, GM ERP, MyTime, Concur, Hyperion etc.
  • Translate complex financial and operational data into actionable insights for leadership
  • Support the monthly forecast, annual budget process and long-term planning
  • Support program finance with data requirement needs
  • Support or lead special projects as needed to support GM Defense

  • Knowledge of finance principles including ability to perform balance sheet analysis, net income statement analysis, cash flow statement analysis, etc.
  • Financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Comfortable presenting to GM Senior Management
  • Ability to story tell and distill complex scenarios to leadership
  • Experience with AI and other automation tools
  • Familiarity with government contract requirements
  • Government Reporting Experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Finance Information Systems, or related field
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with financial reporting/accounting concepts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other office products
  • Business Intelligence (BI) tools experience (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)
  • Hyperion and hands-on SAP experience (financial modules, reporting, or data extraction)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within Finance/Controllership and with operating partners
  • Government Reporting Experience
  • 2 + Years of Experience in Finance, Accounting, or Data Analytics
     

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren Mi three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
