Position Summary:
Asurion is seeking a strategic, business-minded, and collaborative attorney to serve as General Manager (GM) for a portfolio of critical client accounts. This senior legal leader will act as the trusted legal partner to business leaders, responsible for aligning legal strategy with company goals, proactively managing risk, and driving operational excellence through legal insight and leadership. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial and regulatory law, exceptional people leadership, and the ability to foster a culture of trust, innovation, and accountability across legal and business teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary legal advisor and strategic business partner to senior internal and external stakeholders across assigned client accounts.
- Develop, communicate, and implement legal strategy by assessing and managing risk that aligns with business objectives.
- Oversee and manage all legal matters impacting the client, including commercial matters, regulatory compliance, product support, privacy, litigation, and supply chain.
- Lead, inspire, and coach a high-performing legal team, ensuring strong team engagement, skills development, and alignment with company values.
- Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation complex revenue-generating agreements and operational contracts with a focus on speed-to-execution, quality, and risk management.
- Collaborate with legal team members to ensure legal consistency, transparency, and operational integration across departments.
- Stay abreast of legal, industry, and regulatory developments to anticipate emerging risks and recommend proactive legal strategies.
- Participate in weekly leadership and GM legal counsel meetings, surfacing risks, aligning strategy, and fostering collaboration.
- Design and implement effective legal operations processes and compliance programs, using tools such as Smartsheets for issue tracking and workflow management.
- Actively contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture, grounded in collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Lead with integrity and model Asurion’s leadership principles in decision-making, team development, and client engagement.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensing:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Required Legal Experience (12+ years total):
- Experience in a senior-level legal role supporting business units and managing cross-functional legal issues.
- Advanced experience with complex contract negotiation and structuring, particularly for revenue-generating agreements.
- Proven experience advising on regulatory issues and implementing effective compliance strategies.
- Direct experience partnering with product and operational teams to support compliant product launches and enhancements.
- Familiarity with global privacy laws and hands-on experience advising on data protection policies.
- Experience overseeing legal disputes and managing outside counsel.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate legal professionals and build trust-based, performance-driven team cultures.
