What you’ll be doing

Join our Global Transaction Banking team within the Payments group at CIBC Capital Markets as a Student Analyst for a 4-month internship. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering innovative banking and investment solutions to CIBC’s diverse clients, including retail, wealth, corporate, government, and institutional clients worldwide. The Global Transaction Banking group is positioned to support financial institution and corporate clients across correspondent banking, cash management and liquidity advisory, trade and working capital finance.

As a student in our Global Transaction Banking group, you will be working with one of our teams in Toronto to make a real difference for our clients.

  • Correspondent Banking: Enabling international payment and settlement flows across borders and currencies by maintaining critical banking infrastructure.
  • Global Banks Coverage: Managing CIBC’s global banking relationships, cross-selling Capital Markets solutions, and sourcing liquidity.
  • Cash Management: Assisting clients with their operational banking needs and providing solutions for effective management and investment of excess liquidity.

The expected annualized base salary for this role is $95,000

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

  • You are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree in Commerce, Mathematics, Engineering, or related at the time of the internship and are on track to complete your undergrad or grad program no sooner than August 2027.

How you’ll succeed

  • Communication and relationship management - Support the team with payment clearing relationships with global partner banks on behalf of CIBC and payment product support for the Global Trade and Banking team and other CIBC stakeholders.
  • Process improvement - Responsible to manage CIBC’s foreign currency clearing arrangements with Correspondent banks to reduce costs, improve service quality and manage various aspects of the correspondent banking systems application.
  • Growth and development - Identify sales opportunities for payment products for clients across Capital Markets.
