Position Overview:

Reporting to the Global Digital Workplace Management (DWM) manager, the Global Systems Engineer will leverage their expert knowledge of Microsoft 365 services to architect, configure and administer MS TEAMs, Exchange online, end-to-end mail flow, ENTRA ID and M365 services to drive improvements in user experience, security and increase in productivity across the enterprise. This role is the subject matter expert for the platform, requiring technical aptitude, depth of experience and a willingness to continually stay abreast of Microsoft platform technologies around end-to-end mail flow, TEAMs, Copilot, as well as Exchange Server platform capabilities.

In close collaboration with other Digital & IT teams, this role administers highly technical functions within the tenant while supporting team members from Identity Access Management, Security, Architecture, Network, Virtual Compute and Digital Workplace Management teams in establishing standards, processes and configuration guidelines for Finning’s regional support teams.

· For this position, the expected salary range is between $110,000 and $125,000 annually. This range reflects our commitment to providing competitive compensation that aligns with industry standards and your qualifications.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Architect, design and implement enterprise Office 365 solutions with expert skills in end-to-end mail flow, Exchange online, Identity, Authentication, Administration, Implementation, Copilot and MS TEAMs. Provide strategic guidance to optimize service delivery of Finning’s software services globally. Liaise with regional IT infrastructure teams to unify service architecture.

  • Provide high technical expertise and act as a the “last line of support and expertise” with global and regional support teams and issues involving Office 365 or other Exchange and MS TEAMs software services.

  • Analyze the design and assist various projects in the implementation of new technologies that integrate or inter-operate with existing software services and features. Ensure 3rd party products are integrated optimally with core infrastructure items.

  • Ensure Digital & IT teams are able to test out new “edge” products without impacting production systems. Support their efforts in finding differentiating services.

  • Communicate with stakeholders on tenant additions and changes coming from Microsoft that may impact their accountabilities and remediate any concerns raised.

  • Support various business initiatives by creating documentation and support procedures for projects that utilize software services and other Digital Workplace Management (DWM) related software services.

Education & Experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience administering Microsoft’s core IT services such as Exchange online, end-to-end mail flow, MS TEAMs, Active Directory, Azure AD and related Microsoft services and platforms.

  • 4+ year technical degree in an IT related field

  • 5+ years’ experience using PowerShell in a production environment.

  • 5+ years’ experience administering Office 365 tenants.

  • End-to-end mail flow, Exchange Server, Exchange online, Exchange SE

- SMTP, Mail Connectors, Mail Clients

- Mail Hygiene - DFO and Proofpoint ideally

  • Microsoft Teams, Teams Voice, Copilot

- Complex Teams Voice experience with SBC/SBA knowledge is a plus

- Experience with Teams Rooms is a plus

- Microsoft 365 Services, Entra ID, Licensing, Purview

- Places/Modern Room Finder

- SharePoint/OneDrive

- Microsoft Graph, Power Platform

  • Solid understanding of supporting systems and processes such as:

- Entra ID, AAD, AD DS, DHCP, DNS, PKI

- Azure VMs, Networking, and LBs

- ITIL processes

- ServiceNow (incident and change management)

Nice-to-have (Not Mandatory) skills:

  • VDI/Citrix, Network, NetApp and File services management

  • Automation and scripting

  • Authentication and authorization protocols: OAuth 2.0, SAML, Kerberos, ADFS, SSO, MS Entra Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
