***This role is an onsite position at our Toronto office.***
This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.
About the role:
We are looking for a Senior IT Category Manager to lead end-to-end sourcing, negotiation, and contract management across our global IT spend. This role blends strategic category leadership with hands-on execution — from shaping category strategy and managing complex SaaS, cloud, and security negotiations, to improving procurement processes and strengthening supplier relationships.
You will partner closely with IT, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to ensure we secure best-in-class commercial outcomes, including risk/cost reduction, and create long-term value for the organization.
In this role, you will:
Develop and execute a global IT category strategy spanning software, hardware, cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), cybersecurity, telecom, and professional services
Perform spend/market/supplier analysis to identify opportunities for cost optimization, innovation, and risk reduction
Lead complex sourcing events including requirements gathering, RFPs, proposal evaluations, and business case development
Own and execute complex contract negotiations, securing favorable pricing, SLAs, and commercial terms
Maintain expert-level knowledge of IT licensing models, market trends, and emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, cloud-native infrastructure, etc.)
Lead contract redlines and commercial reviews; conduct light legal review using CLM / AI tools, with support from Legal as needed
Ensure timely onboarding of new vendors and ongoing lifecycle management of existing suppliers
Drive supplier performance, resolve issues, and enforce contractual obligations
Act as a trusted advisor to senior IT and business stakeholders, deeply understanding their roadmaps, constraints, and priorities.
Align regional and global stakeholders on sourcing initiatives, category plans, and negotiation strategies.
Build strong cross-functional relationships to improve adoption of sourcing processes and procurement best practices
Improve procurement operations by developing standardized processes, templates, and category management tools.
Lead the implementation and adoption of CLM and other procurement systems (e.g., DocuSign).
Drive year-over-year (YOY) savings, value creation, and operational efficiency.
Stay current on market, technology, and supplier trends to continually refine category strategy.
Follow internal policies related to access management, data security, and procurement governance.
Ensure sourcing activities comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and information security policies.
What you bring:
7–12 years of experience in IT procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
Deep knowledge of IT categories including SaaS, cloud, cybersecurity, infrastructure, telecom, and professional/implementation services.
Demonstrated success leading large, complex negotiations, including single-source deals.
Experience with global contract consolidation including aggregation of regional contracts into global service agreements
Strong commercial acumen and expertise with IT licensing models and contractual terms.
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across regions or business units.
Strong analytical abilities with experience using data to drive decision-making.
Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex sourcing and IT concepts into simple, compelling recommendations.
Experience working with CLM, procurement, or sourcing tools
Bonus skills and experience
Experience in a global, matrixed, or multi-regional organization.
Exposure to legal operations, AI-assisted contract review, or contract analytics.
Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM).
