The Opportunity

Position Summary

The Global Head of Marketing Technology is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving the transformation, adoption, and optimisation of client and marketing systems across the firm. This role combines deep technical expertise with a strong understanding of business development, data governance, and emerging technologies—particularly AI—to enhance client engagement, streamline marketing operations, and deliver actionable insights.

The Global Head of Marketing Technology will be integral to delivering an exceptional experience for our clients and positioning the firm as a global legal powerhouse.

Primary responsibilities:

Clients & Markets Systems Strategy

  • Develop and lead the strategic vision for C&MS (CRM, marketing platform, credentials/pitch/client listening databases), integrating AI and emerging technologies to transform business development and marketing processes.

  • Create and maintain a roadmap for system evolution aligned with business needs.

  • Continuously assess system fitness for purpose through horizon scanning, benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement.

AI Transformation for BD

  • Champion the use of AI to transform BD tasks and workflows.

  • Maintain deep expertise in available HSF Kramer AI tools, services and platforms, identifying impactful use cases and promoting adoption across BD teams.

  • Inspire and enable teams to embrace AI-driven ways of working.

Data Strategy and Governance

  • Set the data strategy for C&MS, ensuring clarity on sources of truth and identifying additional data needs.

  • Collaborate with IT and other system owners to establish and maintain a best-practice governance framework.

  • Implement a robust data maintenance and quality assurance plan.

Centre of Excellence (CoE)

  • Establish and lead a virtual CoE for the operational management of C&MS.

  • Ensure high standards of data quality, system performance, and service delivery.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team responsible for the management and optimisation of C&MS

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team culture.

  • Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.

Adoption and Engagement

  • Drive system adoption and user proficiency across the firm.

  • Identify opportunities to save time and create value through improved system usage, training, and engagement initiatives.

Reporting and Analytics

  • Lead the development of reporting and analytics capabilities within C&MS.

  • Deliver actionable insights that enhance client engagement, campaign effectiveness, and strategic decision-making.

Product Management

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of C&MS products, including selection, implementation, integration, and optimisation.

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts in partnership with Procurement, ensuring systems meet business needs and service levels.

Collaboration with IT

  • Act as the primary liaison between IT and Business Development.

  • Ensure seamless communication and alignment on system upgrades, integrations, troubleshooting and security.

WHS Obligations

  • Comply with WHS obligations and responsibilities in accordance with the requirements for this role and, for leaders at any level, this includes adequately supervising and supporting team members to promote a safe and respectful workplace.

Key Performance Indicators:                  

  • Strategy: Delivery of a 12–24 month roadmap aligned with business priorities within 6 months

  • AI Transformation: Examples of AI use cases developed; time saved/productivity increased

  • Data Governance: Data quality score (% of clean, complete, accurate records)

  • CoE: SLA compliance rate; user satisfaction scores

  • Adoption and Engagement: system usage rates across teams; training completion rates; user proficiency

  • Reporting and Analytics: increase in usage rates of reports/dashboards; % of stakeholders using insights in decision-making

  • Product Management: vendor performance scorecards; contract renewal efficiency; budgets met

  • Collaboration with IT: number of successful integrations or upgrades; stakeholder feedback on collaboration effectiveness

Qualifications, skills, and experience

Essential qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence combined with a focus on business or marketing

  • 10+ years experience managing marketing technology platforms (eg Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Dynamics365, InterAction, Vuture, Marketo, Google Analytics, Quoros docs, Foundation, Intapp Intake, Expert)

  • Professional certifications in Dynamics 365 or other CRM certifications, Google Analytics, Project Management, Data Governance of Data Management

Highly desirable qualifications

  • An MBA or Master’s in a related field

  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to translate technical information for non-technical users

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and IT security standards applicable to Martech systems

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams bridging IT and business units

Skills

  • Strategic and Technical Leadership: ability to develop and execute a long-term vision for marketing and client systems; strong understanding of AI tools and their application in business development and marketing.

  • Data and Analytics: expertise in data governance, quality assurance, and reporting frameworks; ability to translate data into actionable insights for business decision-making.

  • Team leadership: experience in building and leading a CoE or similar operational function; ability to motivate, develop, and manage high-performing teams.

  • Systems and Product Management: skilled in system selection, implementation, integration, and optimisation; experience managing system upgrades, troubleshooting, and compliance in partnership with IT.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams; Ability to influence and inspire adoption of new technologies and processes.

  • Project and Change Management: strong project management skills with experience in change leadership and user engagement; ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex, global environment.

  • Vendor and Procurement Collaboration: skilled in managing relationships with technology vendors and service providers; experience working with procurement teams to negotiate contracts and ensure service levels.

Experience

  • Proven track record in leading system transformation projects, including AI integration and data strategy.

  • Experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and product lifecycle ownership.

  • Experience working in the legal industry or other professional services environment is desirable.
