What you'll do

We're looking for a Global Head of Legal & Regulatory to join our executive team and own the legal strategy, regulatory relationships, and team building across all markets where Clara operates. This is Clara's most senior legal position, reporting directly to the CEO. You are not just a legal technician; you are a business leader who happen to be a lawyer—one who makes decisions grounded in data and embraces technology as a force multiplier.

You will contribute to Clara’s mission by:

  • Defining Clara’s global legal strategy and owning its execution across all markets, anticipating risks before they arise and developing proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Representing Clara in relationships with financial regulators, governmental bodies, and relevant industry forums across LatAm.

  • Building and enforcing a compliance framework that scales across multiple jurisdictions, using data to monitor posture in real-time.

  • Building, leading, and developing Clara’s in-house legal team—hiring exceptional talent and fostering a culture of urgency, ownership, and commercial judgment.

  • Redesigning how legal services are delivered with a focus on speed and leverage, leading the adoption of AI tools for contract review, research, and workflow automation.

  • Using data to measure the legal team's performance, identifying bottlenecks, and continuously improving function operations.

  • Working closely with Product, Finance, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure legal is a strategic asset, not a bottleneck.

Who you are

“We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.”

Must haves:

  • 8+ years of legal experience, with significant time spent in financial services or fintech.

  • Deep expertise in financial regulation across LatAm, with particular fluency in Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia.

  • Experience leading a legal function at a high-growth company, with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams.

  • Working proficiency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese.

  • Experience or a strong interest in AI tools to automate legal workflows and increase efficiency.

  • A data-driven mindset: you measure what matters and use data to drive legal and business decisions.

  • Proven ability to navigate regulatory complexity and organizational ambiguity with high ownership.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, acting as a true peer to executive leadership.

Nice to haves:

  • Trilingual proficiency (English, Spanish, and Portuguese).

  • Independent analytical skills using SQL or spreadsheets to measure team performance metrics.

  • Experience managing external counsel and legal spend via structured reporting or platforms like Hubspot or specialized legal ops tools.

  • A good sense of humor.

Clara’s Hybrid Policy

Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.

We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.
