The Head of Expediting oversees all activities related to ensuring timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services for the organization or its projects. This role leads a team of expeditors, manages supplier performance, identifies delivery risks, and coordinates closely with Procurement, GE Project Controls, Logistics, and Project Management to maintain schedule commitments.
The Head of Expediting develops expediting strategies, monitors order progress, resolves delays, and ensures that suppliers meet contractual delivery requirements. This position plays a critical role in supporting operational efficiency, minimizing schedule disruptions, and strengthening supplier reliability.
The role is based in Visp, Switzerland.
What you will do
Lead and develop the expediting team by providing clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high productivity and consistent delivery standards.
Oversee and manage all expediting activities to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services in alignment with project schedules and business needs.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, identifying delays or risks early and implementing corrective actions to maintain schedule integrity.
Coordinate and collaborate with Procurement, Planning, Logistics, Engineering, Quality, and Project Management to align expediting priorities with operational requirements.
Implement and optimize expediting processes, tools, and best practices to improve on-time delivery rates and overall supply chain efficiency.
Review and validate order progress reports, shipment plans, and supplier documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with contractual requirements.
Escalate and resolve critical delivery issues by engaging suppliers, internal stakeholders, and leadership to prevent or mitigate schedule impacts.
Prepare and communicate accurate and timely expediting status reports, dashboards, and risk assessments to support informed decision-making.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive accountability, enhance communication, and promote continuous performance improvement.
Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality procedures across all expediting activities.
What we are looking for
Master Degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
Strong knowledge of expediting processes, supplier management, and supply-chain operations.
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and tracking tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Ability to interpret procurement contracts, delivery terms, and technical documentation
Solid understanding of logistics, transportation, and import/export practices.
Competence in reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring (KPIs, dashboards).
Experience in Team leadership and people development, including coaching and performance management.
English fluent, German preferred
