The opportunity

The role of Data, Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential in today’s data-driven landscape, where organizations are increasingly relying on AI to enhance decision-making, improve customer experiences, and drive innovation.

Within Hitachi Energy’s Digital Core Center of Expertise (CoE), we are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to establish and lead Hitachi Energy’s Data and Analytics (D&A) and AI practice to bring data, analytics and AI under one common responsibility. This role will drive global transformation by creating a unified structure and governance for data, analytics, and AI initiatives, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across the organization.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Strategic Leadership:
    In line with Hitachi Energy’s operating model, ensure comprehensive, interlinked, company-wide data, analytics and AI strategy is being maintained and effectively operated across businesses, functions and geographies.
  • Data/AI Governance:
    Continuously enhance and enforce Hitachi Energy’s data and AI governance policies and its respective execution to ensure data and AI quality, security and compliance with relevant regulations and ethical usage. This includes the oversight of data management practices across the various data domains along Hitachi Energy’s entire value chain (external and internal data) and ensuring ethical use of data.
  • Analytics & AI Integration:
    In close collaboration with the Information Technology (IT) Function, establish and operate a centralized Analytics Capability Center (ACC) to provide core analytics and AI/GenAI capabilities to businesses, functions and geographies. Through strong AI portfolio governance, ensuring AI initiatives are aligned with business goals and contribute to overall business performance. Ensure that ACCs’ requirements are being integrated into HE’s enterprise AI platform architecture (MLOps, LLMOps, tooling, cloud/on-prem/hybrid), ensuring scalability, security and operational excellence for all AI deployments.
  • Unified Use Case and AI functionality Management:
    Design and implement a global framework to centrally track AI use cases, products and services, prioritize business-critical initiatives, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
  • Data, Analytics and AI Capabilities
    Identify skill gaps within the organization and lead efforts to build a workforce proficient in data-and AI analytics through training, hiring, and specific development programs
  • Performance Management:
    Within the scope of Hitachi Energy’s Digital Core CoE, evaluate the performance of Data and AI systems and make necessary adjustments. Responsible that Data-, Analytics- and AI projects are delivered as per plan (e.g. time, quality and cost)
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Build strong relationships with senior leaders, regional teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. Influence decision-making and secure buy-in for strategic initiatives
  • Leadership of Change:
    Act as a change champion, driving cultural and organizational adoption of data, analytics and AI solutions. Communicate vision effectively, inspire teams, and overcome resistance to change
  • Ecosystem:
    Together with Hitachi Energy Digital Innovation lab, play an active role in setting-up and screening of potential development and (AI) innovation partners in line with the strategic target of Hitachi Energy.

Your background

  • Education:
    • A master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related field
    • Relevant certifications such as Certified Artificial Intelligence Practitioner (CAIP) or advanced AI and machine learning certifications.
    • Ongoing education through workshops, conferences, and online courses to stay updated with the latest AI advancements
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in Data & Analytics, AI, or Digital Transformation roles in global, matrix-oriented organizations
    • Proven experience in leading global complex change programs and managing cross-functional projects
  • Skills:
    • Deep understanding of data science, AI/GenAI technologies, machine learning and analytics platforms
    • Strong analytical skills to tackle complex Data and / or AI challenges
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills across cultures
    • Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to navigate complex organizational structures
    • Awareness of ethical considerations in AI development and deployment
  • Languages:
    • English fluency required; additional languages are a plus
