Position Title:     Global Head of CTS Quality

Reporting To:     Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The Head of Quality and Quality Management will be responsible for ensuring that quality is embedded into everything Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) does to include an end-to-end quality strategy, ensuring software and hardware products are designed to meet reliability, performance and functionality standards.  This will include owning and operating the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring the program’s full compliance with ISO standards, contractual obligations, and relevant regulatory requirements. This role sets and enforces rigorous quality standards, acceptance criteria, and robust documentation controls to guarantee product and process excellence across hardware, software, and field systems.  In this role you will be accountable for performance management in the areas of defect leakage, rework, late-stage issue reduction, first-pass yield, device reliability improvements, and on-time achievement of acceptance milestones. This includes the timeliness and completeness of assurance reviews, adoption of QMS standards and quality practices, and monitoring operational quality indicators such as system uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create the global quality strategy by developing the standards for and ensure that the design and development of our products support minimal defects, improved user experience and maintain a high level of fidelity
  • Own and manage the QMS, ensuring all deliverables meet ISO, contractual, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards, acceptance criteria, and documentation controls for the program.
  • Track and report program and product quality metrics across hardware, software, and field systems; proactively flag systemic risks.
  • Lead defect reduction initiatives, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide independent quality and compliance perspectives to executive and governance forums.
  • Enforce quality gates throughout requirements, design, build, integration, and testing phases.
  • Conduct independent assurance reviews and verify adherence to engineering and governance standards.
  • Set readiness criteria and act as the final approver for major milestones (Factory Acceptance Test [FAT], Site Acceptance Test [SAT], Go-Live), ensuring alignment with customer acceptance criteria.
  • Oversee test strategy, defect containment, RCA, and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Engineering to drive HW–SW integration, device reliability, and field quality feedback loops.
  • Verify compliance with Project Management Center of Excellence (PM CoE) and CTS governance standards, documenting findings and gaps.
  • Champion continuous improvement and standardized processes for predictable customer acceptance and delivery.
  • Drive compliance and governance throughout the program lifecycle.

Capabilities and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technology related field or equivalent work experience
  • Background in Manufacturing and Quality Management essential
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in a Quality Leadership role
  • End-to-end systems quality leadership across hardware, software, cloud, and field devices.
  • Expertise in QMS and compliance, including defect reduction, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in modern testing and automation, including integration, performance/load testing, and CI/CD quality gates.
  • Strong understanding of reliability and operational quality metrics (MTBF, incident/problem/change quality).
  • Proven ability to drive a quality-first culture and effectively manage escalations.
  • Experience in reducing defect leakage, rework, and late-stage issues.
  • Track record of improving first-pass yield and device reliability.
  • Ability to ensure on-time achievement of acceptance milestones (FAT/SAT/Go-Live).
  • Skilled in conducting thorough and timely assurance reviews.
  • Demonstrated adoption of QMS standards and best quality practices.
  • Ability to monitor and improve operational quality indicators, such as system uptime.
