What is the opportunity?

The Global Head of Collateral Management Operations is accountable for the end-to-end operational integrity, control, and scalability of the firm’s collateral management function globally.

This role ensures that collateral is accurately calculated, timely exchanged, properly segregated, optimally utilized, and fully controlled across all products, counterparties, and regulatory regimes. The mandate spans BAU execution, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, technology enablement, and strategic transformation, serving as a critical pillar of the firm’s liquidity, counterparty risk, and balance sheet management framework.

The role owns the operational execution and control environment for all collateral activities globally and is responsible for ensuring that collateral failures do not create liquidity stress, counterparty exposure, regulatory breaches, or reputational risk

What will you do?

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Ops

  • Own global BAU for:
    • Initial margin and variation margin processing
    • Margin calls, disputes, and settlements
    • Collateral movements, substitutions, and returns
    • Segregation and third-party custody models
  • Ensure consistent operating standards across regions while respecting local regulatory requirements.

2. Risk and Control

  • Design and maintain a robust control framework covering:
    • Margin accuracy and timeliness
    • Eligibility, concentration, and haircut controls
    • Settlement fails and aging exposures
  • Act as first line owner for collateral-related risk events and operational losses.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit to resolve issues and drive sustainable remediation.

3. Regulatory and Compliance

  • Ensure operational compliance with global margin and collateral regulations, including:
    • Uncleared margin rules
    • Clearing house margin models
    • Segregation and client asset protection regimes
  • Lead regulatory exams, issue responses, and remediation programs related to collateral operations.
  • Translate regulatory change into executable operational processes.

4. Liquidity and Balance Sheet Enablement

  • Ensure collateral operations support firm liquidity objectives, working with the global head of liquidity and funding
  • Partner with Treasury and Liquidity Risk team to
    • Improve collateral velocity and reuse transparency
    • Reduce trapped collateral and settlement friction
    • Provide reliable collateral data for stress testing and liquidity reporting

5. Technology and Data

  • Own the operational requirements for collateral platforms and data architecture.
  • Partner with Technology to:
    • Drive automation of margin calculation, calls, and settlements
    • Reduce manual touchpoints and dependency on spreadsheets
    • Improve data quality, lineage, and real-time visibility
  • Act as business owner for collateral change initiatives and platform migrations.

6. Client and Counterparty

  • Ensure a predictable, transparent, and controlled collateral experience for clients and counterparties.
  • Oversee dispute resolution frameworks and service standards.
  • Support onboarding of new products, counterparties, and clearing models without compromising controls.

  • Consistent global collateral operating model with regional execution
  • Reduced margin disputes, settlement fails, and aged exposures
  • Improved collateral data quality and reporting reliability
  • Successful regulatory exams with no material findings
  • Measurable reductions in manual processing and operational risk
  • Scalable platform capable of supporting volume growth and regulatory change

  • Commands credibility across Front Office, Risk, and regulators
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science, Math or relevant work experience
  • Strong knowledge of supporting systems used within Operations.  Project management expertise
