The Global Engagement Specialist supports international student success and fosters cross-cultural engagement through student leadership development, orientation programming, and student events. The Global Engagement Specialist assists with New International Student Orientation planning and implementation, which includes large-scale event planning and close partnership with other campus units. The Specialist coordinates Global Engagement student leadership programs, supervising and mentoring student leaders, and attending leadership program events on a weekly basis, including after hours. The Specialist will also plan and implement programs and events open to all students, with a focus on intercultural exchange. The Specialist will assist with fiscal procurement for programs, including submission of documentation into Workday in a timely manner, and accurate processing of requisitions and spend authorizations. The specialist will also perform other duties as assigned to support Global Engagement (i.e. promotion of activities, supply management, collaboration with campus partners and student organizations, obtaining quotes for goods and services, and other administrative support for Global Engagement programs, including the inbound exchange program).
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
2 years of relevant experience required.
Required Qualifications:
2 years of experience in higher education, and/or working with international students
Strong communication skills
Willingness to show patience and empathy towards students navigating stressful situations
Familiarity with Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:
2-4 years of relevant experience
Experience working with international students or individuals
Experience with student support in higher education
Experience with student leadership development
Experience with event planning
Experience communicating with non-native English speakers
Proficiency in a language or languages other than English
Experience with systems used at Ohio State, such as Workday and Qualtrics
Experience with budget management in the workplace

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $21.35 - $27.25. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
