Our team, spread across the globe, is responsible for ensuring an independent and integrated oversight of the Global Privacy Program for Franklin Templeton. The function identifies, monitors, and reports Privacy issues and potential improvements, ensuring compliance with local regulations and internal policies. We are reporting to Global Compliance Department, participate in governance committees, and oversee companies’ strategies, including Merger and Acquisitions and business opening in new countries. The team leverages global resources and specialized tools to deliver a comprehensive, state of the art, privacy program.
The Senior Data Protection Officer supports the implementation of the Global Privacy Program within their region. Reporting to the Global Head of DPO and to the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), working closely with other DPOs around the globe, the Senior DPO is the “eyes and ears” of the Global Privacy Office (GPO), actively working with key business contacts to reduce risk and demonstrate compliance with all matters relating to data protection and privacy.
Core Responsibilities
Manage common mailbox and other communication means – communicate with data subjects for completion of rights requests
Connect with Data Protection Regulators (potentially leading to be appointed as DPO for some entities)
Maintain GPO SharePoint site and resources
Write, edit, and maintain GPO policy and procedure documentation
Support Head of DPOs/CPO in preparation for attending various committees and attend as needed
Participate in business-line meetings and committees and give practical implementation advice and guidance to establish goals and requirements
Draft advice and/or guidance on how best practices and local requirements achieve Privacy by Design or other program requirements for DPO or CPO review
Respond to business inquiries regarding data protection and privacy requirements
Coordinate required changes to the ROPA with the business to maintain accurate records
Generate reporting and annual ROPA extracts for regional entities’ Board approvals as necessary
Manage the ROPA template and coordinate necessary updates with regional GPO counterparts to ensure a globally-acceptable template
Manage regional DPIAs ensuring completion and accuracy, challenging content to ensure quality improvements as applicable
Manage and supervise yearly privacy reviews
University Degree or equivalent experience in dealing with and influencing management.
Proven work experience in the financial services industry with experience gained within Data Privacy.
Basic Knowledge of governance and data management process, with understanding of data and technology
Basic knowledge of regional data protection and data security laws and best market practices.
Knowledge of the organization and operations of global cross-border asset management players
Understanding of operational processes, risk assessment, project management, information technologies and data security
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages such as Spanish are desirable but not required.
CIPP or CIPP/US or CIPM Certification (or willingness to pass it)
Basic understanding of concepts of fund management systems, including trading systems
