We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on Manager of Compensation to design, build, and scale MaintainX’s global compensation programs from the ground up. Reporting to the Senior Director of People, this is a foundational hire you’ll be the first dedicated compensation professional at MaintainX, partnering closely with leadership across People Operations, HR Business Partners, Finance, and the Executive Team to ensure we attract, retain, and reward top talent as we grow.
You’ll start as a team of one, developing frameworks, tools, and processes that will scale with the business. Over time, you’ll build and lead a high-performing compensation team aligned with business needs and organizational growth.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and implement MaintainX’s global compensation philosophy, structure, and processes; including job architecture, salary bands, incentive programs, and pay equity frameworks.
- Partner with executives and People leaders to define short- and long-term compensation strategies that align with business objectives.
- Develop systems and workflows for compensation cycles (merit, bonus, equity refresh, etc.) and ensure seamless execution in partnership with HR Ops, Business Partnerships and Finance.
- Lead compensation benchmarking, job leveling, and market data analysis across roles and geographies (U.S. and Canada).
- Maintain pay equity and internal consistency, ensuring compliance with evolving U.S. and Canadian pay transparency regulations.
- Build tools, dashboards, and communication materials to empower leaders to make data-driven compensation decisions.
- Over time, hire, mentor, and grow a small but mighty compensation team to support our scaling organization.
- Familiarity with HRIS and compensation tools such as HiBob compensation module, Aon Radford, Pave, Mercer etc
- Exposure to global compensation design (EMEA markets).
About you:
- 8+ years of progressive compensation experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or standalone role.
- Experience in SaaS or technology industries.
- Proven experience building compensation programs from the ground up in a high-growth, scaling environment (startup or tech preferred).
- Deep understanding of market pricing, job leveling, and incentive design for both individual contributors and leadership roles.
- Strong grasp of pay transparency laws, equity programs, and global compensation structures (U.S. and Canada required; additional markets a plus).
- Exceptional analytical and modeling skills, able to translate data into clear strategy and recommendations.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to operate hands-on, equally comfortable designing frameworks and executing them.
- Excellent communication and partnership skills, you can influence, educate, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
