As the Global Category & Sourcing Director, you will play a key role in managing a team of Category Mangers responsible for designing and driving our 3rd party spend strategy for the assigned scope, ensuring a balance of cost optimization, risk management, supplier relationships, and strategic alignment to drive value and competitive advantage for the organization. This role also ensures sourcing strategy compliance to category strategy through the assigned Sourcing team members located in the Product Line and Regions. Reporting to the Global Sourcing and Procurement Director, you will lead a team of Category and Sourcing Managers and collaborate with Product Lines and Regions to deploy the category plans in line with the business’s strategies.

As Global Category & Sourcing Director, you will be responsible for: 

  • Developing and managing high-performing team of Category and Sourcing Managers.
  • Providing leadership on the global category strategy and ensure Product Lines and Regions are aligned on the implementation and execution of the strategy at global and local levels.
  • Establishing and ensuring delivery of subcategory goals leveraging spend data analytics, market research, and strong internal and external relationships.
  • Supporting the implementation of comprehensive category plans, aligned with Baker Hughes corporate business goals and multiple product lines, considering market drivers and trends on pricing, risk management, and supplier performance.
  • Supporting the communication of category plans to Supplier Performance Management, Sourcing, and Procurement teams to drive the execution of the selected strategies.
  • Overseeing the proper execution and implementation of the sourcing pipeline, including negotiations and contracting strategies to achieve category deflation, cash optimization, supply base rationalization, spend under contract and other relevant Key Performance Indicators, KPIs.
  • Providing advice and guidance to functional management or business functions on strategies, projects, and other value generating programs.
  • Ensuring spend is accurately categorized in relevant business systems providing visibility and appropriate prioritization of sourcing and supplier management efforts.
  • Collecting and analyzing data related to category performance, supplier metrics, and market trends to drive improvements in spend allocation.
  • Staying informed of innovative projects, alternative products, and industry regulations related to the category scope.
  • Driving innovation and collaboration with suppliers and business lines to support business growth and sustainable goals.

Fuel your passion 

To be successful in this role you will: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Materials or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Category Management, Operations or equivalent years of experience, with previous experience working in the technical field of the category scope.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience successfully leading high performing teams
  • Ability to lead through influence across multiple internal and external stakeholders, design sourcing strategies, challenge and support sourcing efforts, and follow up on implementation to deliver business results.
  • Deep understanding of market drivers’ trends and analysis, translating them into actionable insights measuring and comparing business performance
  • Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth and achieving sales & commercial targets through leveraging supplier base.
  • Strong experience with negotiation of contract and commercial terms and conditions and able to coach and influence others.
  • Excellent communication skills for building relationships with supplier’s executives and internal teams
  • Strong project management skills with ability to plan tasks, assign resources, manage progress, remove barriers, manage change, resolve conflict, build consensus and motivate team members across multiple functions, regions and product lines.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) a plus.
  • Ability to work in a highly metric-driven environment and deliver against challenging performance targets such as top-line, bottom-line, and cash-flow.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multitask in a flexible, fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and diversity
