Global CAPEX PMO Lead

Amersfoort, Utrecht Full time

Job Description:

Why join us

Own your impact at Nutreco, an SHV company. We cultivate talent, curiosity and diversity as well as offer exposure to meaningful projects and passionate customers and colleagues around the world. Join us as a Global CAPEX PMO Lead and share our purpose of Feeding the Future as you grow both personally and professionally. Together we can transition towards more sustainable, equitable and balanced protein production.

What you’ll do

This role is part of Nutreco’s Investment Project (NIP) team, which falls under Nutreco’s Global Supply Chain group. This team has a global reach and is responsible for the successful delivery of large CAPEX projects (EUR 2.5M and higher) for all Nutreco's business units, which in practice means the project's management of design, contracting, construction and commissioning phases. NIP manages a portfolio of approx. 15 greenfield and brownfield projects.

As Global CAPEX PMO Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the NIP team. You will lead the global project management office (PMO) function, while focusing on excellence in project management & controls, and following the PMI methodology. You will also provide governance of the NIP project portfolio. You will report to the Nutreco Engineering Director.

This role is not just about governance; it’s about being in the field, working shoulder-to-shoulder with project teams, providing hands-on support. You will travel (approx. 30%) to project sites to train teams, implement best practices, and ensure that Nutreco’s standards are understood and applied on the ground. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining unified procedures, tools, and guidelines that enable consistent, high-quality project delivery across regions.

You will act as the single source of truth for NIP’s project portfolio, proactively identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. This also involves ownership of portfolio management tools & templates and portfolio status reporting. Your insights will inform senior management and business units, helping Nutreco make strategic decisions about its global CAPEX investments. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that requires a balance of strategic thinking and operational execution.

Who we’re looking for

For this position, we are looking for an experienced PMO with strong exposure to global projects, to be able to provide advice and guidance to project teams with regards to CAPEX project management processes and company policies relevant to CAPEX projects, which frequently involves direct, hands-on participation in projects at project locations, as well as providing governance (monitoring) on compliance.

You’ll also need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field; PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in developing, implementing, and training project management processes for large-scale CAPEX projects (€5–100M) within an industrial environment.

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience working on-site in CAPEX project teams, in roles such as project management or project controls. Demonstrated experience in an Operations related role (e.g. production, maintenance, quality, etc), will be highly preferred.

  • Proven track record in at least two CAPEX projects exceeding €5M, with responsibility for project controls including cost management, scheduling, risk management, and project reporting.

  • Solid understanding of financial accounting and/or controlling principles, with at least 2 years of experience supporting CAPEX project financials.

  • Fluent in English; proficiency in additional European languages is considered an asset.

What you’ll receive

As part of Nutreco, you’ll be a member of the SHV family, a diverse group of companies with global footprint. Join us and you’ll gain access to a wide network of expertise and global career paths. You’ll also benefit from the backing of one of the world’s largest privately owned businesses, known for its stability and long-term focus.

In addition, you’ll receive:

  • A competitive salary package

  • 30 vacation days
