The Global Retail organisation is end-to-end responsible for the three retail segments: Private Individuals, Private Banking & Wealth Management and Business Banking. As an important pillar, ING Business Banking services 1.9 million clients ranging from Self-Employed till Midsized Corporates across 8 countries.
As Strategy Lead, you are responsible for the Strategy Office and report directly to the Global Head of Business Banking. The Strategy Office consists of four consultants who report to you directly. Together, you will work on a diverse set of strategic and commercial topics, giving you the opportunity to shape our execution roadmap and build a strong network within the international Business Banking organisation. You will collaborate closely with country Heads of Business Banking, Global Product Leads, and local leadership teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the Global Business Banking Strategy Office of four consultants, including setting priorities, allocating work, steering output, and coaching and developing team members.
Taking an pro-active role in setting the strategic direction for Business Banking and translating this into business objectives, roadmaps, and target setting.
Ensuring performance tracking and follow-up on key programmes and initiatives, focusing on delivering tangible client impact and commercial results
Providing senior management with high-quality insights into strategy, opportunities and improvements, track strategy execution and support decision‑making.
Acting as a linking pin between business units and central functions, enabling effective and efficient execution.
Supporting day-to-day business management activities and senior management requests.
Key skills we are looking for:
Ability to effectively manage, motivate and further develop team of consultants.
Capable of overseeing and understanding a wide variety of complex topics and distilling primary issues from secondary details.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior stakeholders up to ING Management Board level.
Deep understanding of the Business Banking domain, including relevant trends, product knowledge and client behaviour
Pro-active and steering of value creation; self-starter and able to identify opportunities for the bank, as well as initiating them
Monitoring performance as well as disciplined execution
Strong resilience and the ability to navigate through ambiguity. Capable to provide structure and direction in complex or dynamic settings.
High level of discretion and confidentiality.
Personal Profile
Master’s degree.
More than 8 years of experience in banking, finance, strategy/consulting, (fin)tech delivery or investment banking.
Growth mindset and multiple years of experience in the Business Banking domain.
Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Proven experience in delivering strategic projects and preparing high‑quality management information.
Comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint.
Fluent in English.
What we offer?
This position is based on a 40 hour working week. The position is intended as a job scale 14, ultimately depending on your qualifications and work experience. The work location is Amsterdam, Cedar.
Given the nature of the work and access to confidential and sensitive information, the role is deemed to be ‘sensitive’. An extra security clearance is required by the Corporate Special Investigations (CSI) team.
