About the role:
The Global Benefits Director is responsible for the strategic design, governance, and operational excellence of the firm’s global benefits programs. This role provides firm-wide leadership across health and welfare, retirement, well-being, leave management, vendor strategy, and benefits-related compliance, while ensuring programs are competitive, cost-effective, compliant, and aligned with the firm’s talent strategy.
This role partners closely with Total Rewards, HR, Finance, Payroll, Legal, Procurement, HRIS, and external vendors to deliver a scalable and employee-centric benefits ecosystem across all regions. The Global Benefits Director services as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and plays a critical role in global transformation initiatives, M&A, and workforce growth. initiatives as well as providing ongoing support to the Total Rewards team and HR leadership.

How will you make a difference as a Global Benefits Director at Fragomen?
Global Benefits Strategy & Design
- Lead the development and execution of a global benefits strategy that supports attraction, retention, and employee well-being across regions.
- Evaluate, design, and expand benefit offerings (e.g., healthcare, well-being, lifestyle benefits) with both short- and long-term impact.
- Balance innovation with financial stewardship, ensuring benefits programs are sustainable and aligned with firm priorities.
- Leverage utilization data, benchmarking, and market trends to continuously refine benefit offerings.
Vendor & Broker Management
- Own global vendor strategy across benefits providers, administrators, and brokers.
- Lead stewardship meetings, performance reviews, and service issue resolution.
- Drive accountability through SLAs, KPIs, governance frameworks, and escalation protocols.
- Partner with Procurement and Finance to negotiate contracts, review SOWs, and manage renewals.
- Play a leadership role in the RFP processes, including evaluation, selection, and transition planning.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Ensure strong governance across benefits administration, compliance, and documentation.
- Oversee benefits-related audits (e.g., 401(k)), ERISA compliance, ACA, COBRA, and Secure Act 2.0 initiatives.
- Maintain and continuously enhance benefits cost tracking, financial analytics, and invoice reconciliation processes.
- Serve as primary liaison with Payroll, Finance, HRIS, and vendors to ensure accurate deductions, funding, and reporting.
- Lead efforts to streamline and modernize benefits operations, including leave administration and automation initiatives.
HRIS & Systems Integration
- Partner with HRIS teams to optimize Workday Benefits configuration, integrations, and user experience.
- Lead benefits-related system enhancements, vendor integrations, and process automation efforts.
- Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and scalability of benefits systems across regions.
- Support enterprise initiatives such as acquisitions, new office openings, and system transitions.
Global Oversight & Regional Leadership
- Provide oversight of global benefits renewals and regional programs (U.S., Canada, APAC, EMEA, LATAM).
- Partner with regional TR & HR leaders to ensure consistency while respecting local regulatory and cultural requirements.
- Actively participate in global renewal discussions to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for alignment.
- Support M&A initiatives with benefits due diligence and onboarding.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop benefits team members, fostering strong technical capability and strategic thinking.
- Facilitate regular leadership touchpoints and cross-functional collaboration.
- Act as a subject matter expert and advisor to HR leaders, Total Rewards partners, and senior stakeholders.
- Communicate benefits strategy, changes, and outcomes clearly to leadership and employees.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in Global Benefits, Total Rewards, or HR leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in U.S. benefits (health & welfare, retirement, ERISA, compliance) with strong exposure to global benefits programs.
- Proven experience managing complex vendor ecosystems and broker relationships.
- Strong financial acumen, including benefits budgeting, cost modeling, and invoice reconciliation.
- Experience with Workday Benefits and HRIS-driven benefits administration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, resource constraints, and organizational change.
- Strong executive presence, influencing skills, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong global leadership, ability to influence, and able to present complex concepts in a clear and simple manner
- Proven managerial experience with the capability of developing and motivating extended indirect team members
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, creative, flexible, innovative and an integrative thinker
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office products and HR applications (Workday preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues and projects of varying complexity and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of trends and strategy as it relates to global benefits delivery and standardization
- Deep understanding of change management and the ability to think strategically around how to deploy programs and manage that change across a variety of Partners & locations
- Strong communication skills including the ability to engage leaders and employees, influence decision-making and generate enthusiasm
