At Airbus Defence & Space we are developing high fidelity Engineering and Training Simulations for a variety of aircrafts, supporting the entire development life-cycle.
At the core, our Simulations are distributed real-time applications. The Simulation Visualisation and XR Teams' responsibilities include the development and integration of visualisation solutions (Image Generators) as well as all the GIS and 3D data tooling and databases belonging to those.
We are looking for an experienced GIS (Geo-Information-Systems) Data Software Engineer contributing to the definition and design of Database Generation and GIS Data Management workflows and toolchains.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Define architectures, requirements and workflows defining (visual) database generation toolchains and solutions
Evaluate, select and integrate 3rd party tools to create and end2end database toolchain allowing management of GIS data and manual or automated generation of visual databases from different type of GIS data
Develop frontend or backend applications improving the automation level of our visual database toolchains and reducing/simplifying manual database modelling efforts
Develop solutions for the storage of large amount of GIS data and interfaces to COTS or open-source tools accessing the data
Prepare and edit geospatial data for the generation of visual databases
Plan and execute the verification process or automated testing of visual databases using different image generators or GIS tools
Write technical and user documentation according to the existing company processes
Desired skills and qualifications
Bachelor or higher degree in computer science, geomatics, geo-engineering, aerospace engineering or a related discipline
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in software development related to GIS Data
Hands-on experience with digital geo data formats, GIS tools, database technologies and data processing automation
Detail knowledge of and hands-on experience with object orientated programming languages, in particular Python. C/C++, bash, Rust or others would be a plus
Agile Development Methodologies desired
Analytical & structured thinking
Experience with Development and Maintenance of DevOps/CI/CD solutions or distributed computing setups (VM or container based) would be a plus
Very good English knowledge, German language proficiency would be a plus
