ROLE SUMMARY:
This is an exciting opportunity to join Pfizer’s Inflammation and Immunology (I&I) Business Unit on the GI/Rhu franchise - an agile, innovative, groundbreaking team.
The GI/Rhu Portfolio Strategy and Performance Lead plays a critical role within the franchise, representing a unique opportunity to shape and optimize performance across a dynamic and strategically important portfolio. This role is responsible for driving cohesive portfolio strategy across brands at different stages of their lifecycle, including Velsipity, a key growth brand for Specialty Care, and Xeljanz, a mature brand with ambitious goals as it approaches loss of exclusivity (LOE) in June of this year.
Reporting to the VP of GI/Rhu Marketing, the Portfolio Strategy Lead will serve as a member of the Marketing Leadership Team and act as a strategic integrator across brands, functions, and stakeholders. The role requires a strong balance of strategic vision, exceptional communication, executional excellence, and enterprise leadership to ensure short‑ and long‑term portfolio success.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The GI/Rhu Portfolio Strategy and Performance Lead will coordinate across brand leads and cross functional partners to drive focused strategic initiatives and manage the operational agenda and performance reporting for the U.S. team.
Lead strategic planning and senior leadership reporting
Own performance reporting and coordination. Consistently represent trend performance to channel leads and partners, customer-facing teams and leadership and partner to identify
performance gaps and priorities
Lead the ongoing evolution of the Pfizer GI/Rhu strategy, ensuring appropriate synergies across brands.
Lead evaluation of and launch plan development of strategic shifts and/or upcoming indications.
Own development and execution of all business-critical strategic deliverables, including, but not limited to:
Quarterly earnings submissions and leadership / investor relations requests to ensure consistent and clear guidance on brand performance dynamics
Strategic planning and operating plan
Development of strategic insights in preparation for monthly Air Traffic Control (ATC) discussions with senior leadership
Ad hoc requests from senior leadership
Partner with Global, CSI, Medical and other key stakeholders on evolution of lifecycle plans, provide US commercial input into Business Development under consideration
Financial tracking and budget management
In partnership with finance and IIS lead develop monthly financial performance updates to VP and senior leadership
Partner with the GI/Rhu leadership team and customer-facing leads to adjust / optimize resource allocation to address performance objectives, including operating expense management and portfolio investments
Own Performance reporting and coordination
Oversee aligned performance goals across channel, customer-facing and enabling teams, refreshed according to the semesterly performance review cycle
Establish structured analyses, tracking frameworks and metrics to assess Rhu/GI performance and underlying drivers of performance. Establish response plans and mitigation strategies as relevant and operationalize through applicable cross-functional teams. Provide brand-specific guidance to cross-functional partners (e.g., Finance, ISE, Commercial Effectiveness, Strategy & Consulting, etc.) on brand performance needs.
Manage identified strategic initiatives from inception to delivery, working through the strategy and performance team, channel leads and cross functional partners to establish effective work groups, delivery plans, performance metrics and execution.
Competitive
Lead a cross functional group focused on gathering and evaluating competitive intel and providing recommendations on resulting key actions/changes in strategy
Conduct targeted competitive intelligence and analyses to understand relative competitor strategies, positioning and activities and implications for U.S. strategy
Operations
Act as air traffic control for priority information requests, emergent challenges/opportunities, and short/mid/long term strategic initiatives via weekly ‘hot list’ sessions with LT
Play key role in GI/Rhu leadership team hyperfocus on growth and development through planning of LT offsites, team offsites, and identification and planning of purpose-built training
Basic Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree
Minimum 12+ years experience, including US pharma experience OR advanced degree
11+ years of progressive experience in US pharma commercial roles
Strong familiarity with the US marketing landscape including HCP, consumer, payer engagement strategies and medical group/integrated delivery networks
