Description:

The Supervisor, Gift Shops, under the general direction of the Manager for Retail Services, takes the lead in planning and implementing programs for providing gift shop(s) services at Trinity Health.  Develops policies and procedures with effective resource utilization to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and internal standards.  Interviews and selects candidates for positions in the Gift Shop(s).  Develops and implements basic training and continuing in-service education programs and evaluates the performance of direct reports.  Under general supervision, coordinates buying, merchandising, displaying, inventory and financial management of retail merchandise in the Gift Shop(s).

Full-Time position scheduled varied shifts, 40 hours per week.  Benefited position.

Requirements:

·        Education:       High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.  2 year College or College coursework in merchandising or related field preferred.              

·        Experience:      Minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible work experience.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Places customer first and central to all operational decisions.  Monitors patient/customer satisfaction. 

·        Acts as liaison to departments and areas to assure expedient response to patient and customer concerns. 

·        Trains, educates and develops associates to equip them with the basic skills for good customer service.

·        Monitors Gift Shop(s) operations to ensure that standards of quality, hygiene and efficiency are met.

·        Collaborates with patients, customers, suppliers and buyers on an ongoing basis to identify new opportunities to continuously improve the quality/product of the Gift Shop(s).

·        Responsible for financial management related to budget, FTEs and supplies.  Develops plans to reduce expenses and keep within financial targets.  Monitors, reports and provides explanations for budget variances.

·        Develops, recommends and administer polices and procedures pertaining to Gift Shop(s).

·        Works closely with the buyer with ordering new merchandise, meeting with sales representatives and attending local and national gift shows.

·        Overseas inventory control, storage, distribution, sales, displays and merchandise.

·        Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in retail gift shop(s).

·        Monitors daily operations to ensure compliance with departmental quality standards.

·        Assists with determining retail prices.

·        Reviews daily, monthly and yearly sales reports to plan marketing/sales strategies, trends and financial reports.

·        Reviews invoices for payment approval.

·        Provide input in creating SKU’s and establish profit margins for all new merchandise in point of sale system

·        Signs off and reconciles cash drawers and cash on hand.

·        Supervises the activities of personnel by interviewing and making decision for hiring, orienting, training, coaching, evaluating and terminating employees. 

·        Communicates expectations to staff and monitors and reviews staff performance on a regular basis.

·        Develops and implements a personal development program to ensure continuing professional growth.

·        Develops hours of operations and necessary staffing models. .

·        Reviews payroll reports to ensure accuracy.

·        Interpersonal skills necessary to conduct effective Guest Relations measures and to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and other customers. 

·        Analytical skills necessary to administer department and health system policies, budget and resolve operational and interpersonal problems in the area of responsibility as well as skills necessary to supervise a large service operation.
