GI Sales Strategic Initiatives Marketing – GTM Excellence Lead (Secondment – 12 Months)

This Director level secondment is a 12 months strategic leadership role designed to support critical commercial priorities within the Rheumatology & Gastroenterology organization. Reporting directly to Steven Arriaga, this role serves as a trusted advisor and execution leader, driving enterprise level initiatives across sales enablement, leadership development, external partnerships, and organizational effectiveness.

The role is intended to address timebound business needs, accelerate priority initiatives, and strengthen leadership capability across the GI and broader sales organization while providing exposure to senior commercial leadership decision-making. 

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

Strategic Leadership & Advisory

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the VP Sales Lead, providing insight, analysis, and recommendations on commercial priorities, capability development, and execution risks. 

  • Support the development and operationalization of commercial strategies aligned to business objectives. 

  • Translate leadership direction into clear priorities, action plans, and governance frameworks. 

  • Op Plan Lead development.  

Commercial GTM Excellence, Enablement, Capability & Development

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for GI Preceptorship programs, including:  

  • GIA virtual preceptorship series. 

  • University of Chicago live preceptorship experience. 

  • Lead ongoing DiSC Catalyst upgrades and integration for new hires ensuring alignment to leadership capability and onboarding strategies. 

  • Oversee the New Hire Mentor Program – Business Planning and Acumen to ensure consistent design, relevance, and scalability. 

  • WOW Sustainment 

Marketing Partnership & Liaison

  • Serve as the primary commercial liaison to Marketing and partner with GI RBD Marketing lead, ensuring strong alignment between brand strategy, field execution, and leadership priorities across Rheumatology & GI to ensure GTM excellence. 

  • Lead development, execution, and tracking of performance driven blitz plans in partnership with Sales and Marketing, including identifying gaps, defining actions, monitoring impact, and reporting progress and outcomes to leadership. 

  • Partner closely with Marketing leadership to translate brand strategies, campaigns, and key initiatives into clear, actionable direction for sales leaders and the field. 

  • Provide sales leadership perspective and feedback into marketing planning cycles, messaging, and launch readiness to ensure relevance, feasibility, and executional excellence. 

  • Facilitate ongoing communication and issue resolution between Sales and Marketing, proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities to improve cross functional effectiveness. 

  • Support integrated planning across Sales, Marketing, training and Enablement to drive consistency, clarity, and impact in customer engagement. 

  • Convention/congress coordination 

Cross Functional & External Partnership Leadership

  • Act as senior commercial liaison for Velsipity / Pfizer XEL VSM, representing sales leadership interests and ensuring alignment between external partners and Pfizer commercial objectives. 

  • Provide leadership oversight for ODAIA related initiatives, with a focus on insight enablement, analytics integration, and business impact. 

Organizational Effectiveness & Listening Strategy

  • Lead PULSE Listening Sessions, synthesizing insights and converting outcomes into actionable themes. 

  • Drive the evolution of PULSE forums into a GI Sales Council model, ensuring sustained engagement, leadership sponsorship, and feedback loops into commercial decision-making. 

  • Partner with People Experience to support organizational changes, capability assessments, and leadership readiness initiatives, modeling strong change leadership behaviors. 

Governance, Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish clear governance, cadence, and decision-making frameworks for initiatives within scope. 

  • Prepare executive ready materials, updates, and recommendations for senior leadership forums. 

  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and escalation points, ensuring timely alignment with leadership and PX partners. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 12+ years of experience.

  • 8+ years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience specifically within commercial, strategy, enablement, or operations functions.

  • Operating plan strategic development and execution require.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and operate effectively in complex, matrixed environments. 

  • Strong strategic thinking paired with hands-on execution leadership. 

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional and external partnerships. 

  • High level of judgment, professionalism, and discretion, particularly in confidential or sensitive matters. 

Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree with at least 10+ years of experience; OR a PhD with 7+ years of experience; OR MD with 5+ years of experience.

  • US Field Sales Experience with Pfizer Inc; I&I experience preferred.

  • Previous People Leadership preferred.

  • Previous People Leadership preferred.

  • GI UC Marketing Experience preferred.
