Job Description and Responsibilities
The General Supervisor Operations is responsible for managing employees and operations to drive operational excellence in the areas of safety, quality, and production at our Red Deer Facility. The successful candidate works proactively to coordinate process and material flow, inclusive of employees and equipment.
Supervise the scheduling of work to ensure safety, production, and quality KPI’s for the department are met and plan schedules for outages etc.
Provide orientation, instruction, and training of department personnel regarding safe working habits, API/ISO standards, company work rules and policies to ensure compliance.
Co-ordinate the development of systems and procedures for the department in areas such as, purchasing, maintenance planning, and plant downtime.
Provide on-going communication with department employees attempting to maintain good morale and motivate them to submit recommendations for improvements.
Assume responsibility for the budget ensuring that appropriate cost control measures are implemented (The Incumbent relies on the assistance of Operations management) regarding permission to purchase expensive equipment and to some extent, on matters of personnel and Safety.
Co-ordinate the planning, engineering, requisitioning, testing, and commissioning of all production and related activities
Administer the provisions of the Collective Agreement within the department.
Provide recommendation for the upgrades, plant expansions, procedure changes etc.
Requirements
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related field, candidates with an engineering degree preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.
5 years of supervisory/industrial experience, industrial manufacturing experience considered an asset
Previous experience managing employees in a unionized environment considered an asset
Experience working with oil patch, pipe, heat treatment or welding is an added advantage.
Good working knowledge of manufacturing including mechanical equipment and machinery, systems and procedures.
