General Mechanic Lead

Monroe - North Louisiana Region - Louisiana Full time
This job oversees the day-to-day operations of assigned areas of responsibility and associated facility utilities. Sets schedules and issues preventive and corrective work orders, and regularly supervises maintenance of utility system. Responds and assists to maintenance requests for assigned facilities. Maintains facility in a safe, functional, supportive and effective condition. Accurately documents all activities in appropriate logs and oversees contractors in scheduled and emergency corrective actions.

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

Required – 5 years of experience in commercial, industrial or hospital maintenance

Experience with all hand and power tools

Preferred – Healthcare experience

Certifications

Required – Valid driver’s license in the state of residence

Trade school or company school with a license or certification when required by a Regulatory Agency or as job duties dictates in any of the following disciplines: pneumatics, steam, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, refrigeration, welding, plumbing or machine work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Self-motivated, organized and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Able to troubleshoot and analyze problems associated with areas of responsibilities.

  • Capable of handling the physical and mental stress associated with maintaining all equipment and systems operating.

  • Demonstrates effective management/judgment decision making.

  • General knowledge of Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Fire Marshall, and Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) regulations.

  • Ability to work extended work hours and call-in on an emergency basis.

Job Duties

  • Responds to maintenance requests and assistance to hospital, clinic and supporting facilities.

  • Assigns and documents preventive and corrective maintenance on areas under the responsibility of this position.

  • Timely repairs to equipment and systems in critical situations.

  • Effectively reads and understands schematics and specifications to assign effective maintenance.

  • Assures proper operations of facility’s utilities and all support equipment.

  • Supervises annual, monthly, weekly, and daily maintenance of utility system.

  • Maintains daily documentation records.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible
