General Manager – Europe Technology Standards Office (m/f/d)

Location: Europe hybrid/home based

EUTSO is the European branch of the international standardization activities of Sony Group Corporation. Its members represent Sony in international standards committees, such as ITU, IEC, ETSI as well as local mirror committees in European countries.

EUTSO makes sure that technical requirements and interests of Sony are reflected in new norms, standards and recommendations. This is achieved by close collaboration with peers from industry as well as governmental bodies.

Further EUTSO informs Sony business units about upcoming new technical requirements affecting their products and services and explains the detailed implications of such.

You will:

  • Represent Sony in international standards bodies.

  • Actively engage in standardization activities on committee as well as work group level for a set number of topics, depending on your experience.

  • Be the official contact for external entities with respect to technical standardization in Europe.

  • Liaise with TSO members of other regions (Japan and China) to contribute to the development of Sony global standardization strategies

  • Lead a team of currently four standards experts and jointly assign the topics within the team.

  • Manage a change of topics for the team in line with Sony Creative Entertainment Vision

  • Develop Sony standardization strategies for Europe

  • Be the reporting interface to the business owners in Japan and agree the yearly work-plans and budget with them.

  • Communicate with European Sony technology leaders to collect their insights and priorities as well as update them about the latest relevant developments.

  • Identify requirements from Sony business units and secure direct funding from them for their individual requests.

You will bring:

  • Fluent English skills: Company language as well as international meeting language is English. Fluent communications and negotiations skills are required.

  • At least 10 years of experience in international or European standardization

  • Willingness to actively engage in the standardization of technologies that are new to oneself.

  • Team spirit

  • Willingness to travel internationally

  • Expert technical knowledge in one of the following focus areas: Entertainment, AI, Mobility, Communications or Multi-media standards

  • University degree level of education

  • Experience to communicate with Japan colleagues.
