This position serves as a night shift laborer support, primarily responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the Health Science Center campus parking garages. Daily duties include light to heavy lifting, collecting and hauling trash, maintaining recycling/garbage receptacles and dumpsters to ensure a clean appearance, and operating vehicles and heavy equipment. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with general maintenance tasks, hauling debris, loading/unloading trucks, and providing assistance in setting up displays for special events. This position is responsible for performing safety checks, maintaining tools, and completing required paperwork and trainings on schedule. Employees must work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform cleaning and general upkeep of parking garages.
Collect, lift, and haul trash, debris, and recyclable materials.
Lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis and move/lift items over 50 pounds with material handling devices
Operate vehicles and heavy equipment, including but not limited to box trucks and forklifts.
Remove snow and ice from university walkways, roads, ramps, parking areas, and shuttle bus stops by utilizing the appropriate snow removal equipment and spreading salt in those areas.
Load and unload trucks
Maintain and store tools, equipment, and vehicles for safe operations according to the standard of use. Perform safety checks and report any damage for repair.
Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
Attending required trainings and meetings.
Assist other trades as needed with maintenance, construction, and repairs, including but not limited to shoveling, pouring concrete, moving heavy items, changing filters, and other related duties.
Occasionally set up and assemble displays for special events in various departments.
Effectively work alone and with a team
Contribute to the overall success of the assigned department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor(s)
Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including but not limited to snow, rain, heat, and cold
This position is a required personnel position and requires the employee’s physical presence at the workplace. Additionally, the employee is required to report to (or remain at) work to assist with University emergencies during closures.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
