An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a skilled and qualified General Machinist to join our Rotatives Derby Compressor Discs and Drums Facility (DCDD), which is responsible for the manufacture of Compressor Drums for our large Civil engines. 

Your role as a machine operator will involve working on our various CNC machining platforms producing Discs, Drums and any other commodities we support. You will be responsible for delivering against weekly targets to meet customer requirements. You will also work with cross functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within our manufacturing environment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

In this role you will work to Rolls-Royce’s Technical Instructions and program manuals to deliver consistent, high-quality machining across a variety of different components and product families, as well as: 

  • Operate a variety of Inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometres, plug gauges. 

  • Interpretation of manufacturing drawings, customer drawings and written specifications. 

  • Assessment of whether the quality of components produced within the facility meets the required standards.

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria: 

  • Completed an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship* and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification. 

  • Siemens control system experience is preferred. 

  • Experience in 5-axis milling, turning, drilling, and boring. 

  • Previous experience with aerospace components would be an advantage. 

  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection. 

  • You are an active and patient individual who can manage your time effectively. 

  • An individual who is able to work alone and as part of a team and will strive to achieve delivery commitments. 

  • Someone who is confident and willing to partake in champion roles. 

*Please attach a copy of your certificate as proof of completing a recognised apprenticeship together with/next to your CV.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be DDH3.
