Hidden Valley Transfer Station, a Waste Connections company, is currently hiring a reliable and motivated Laborer to support our composting operations in Puyallup, Washington.

This is a full‑time, year‑round position ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in hands‑on work, and want to contribute to environmentally responsible operations.

About Our Compost Operations

We are proud producers of P.R.E.P. (Pierce County Recycled Earth Products), a high‑quality compost created by responsibly processing organic waste into valuable, reusable products. Our Compost Factory provides extensive capacity to convert organic materials at a competitive cost, while advanced environmental and operational controls ensure the facility remains a responsible and respectful neighbor to the community that generates these materials and relies on the finished product.

Schedule & Pay

  • Sunday through Wednesday, 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM. Opportunities for overtime available

  • Pay Range is $21.00 – $23.00 per hour, depending on experience

What You’ll Do

As a Laborer in the compost area, you will play a key role in supporting daily composting operations and maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑organized site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform general labor duties within the compost operation, including site cleanup and material handling

  • Assist customers with unloading compostable materials and provide clear direction as needed

  • Safely flag and direct vehicle traffic entering and exiting the compost area

  • Support equipment operators and operate minor equipment as assigned

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the composting area

  • Occasionally drive company vehicles within the facility (valid driver’s license required)

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a physically demanding, outdoor role

  • Comfortable working in environments with strong odors, dust, and changing weather conditions

  • Ability to stand and work outdoors for up to 10 hours per shift

  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs

  • Willingness to work at multiple locations if needed

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

This is a safety‑sensitive position and requires passing a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
