Job Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager this position is responsible for coordinating and executing engineering activities. The role requires high technical aptitude and problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful.Job Description:
Performs assignments in specialized areas requiring engineering expertise.
Prepares functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations.
Coordinates of design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
Reviews and authenticate designs.
Works in planning, coordination, budgeting, and cost estimating.
Develops and updates single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.
Supports material procurement.
Conducts QA/QC design review, and support closing gaps and managing lessons learned.
Provides engineering support to field and construction groups.
Utilizes, develop, and improve engineering processes and standards.
Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and management.
Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications
Education and experience
BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
Five years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience. Master’s degree or a Puerto Rico PE License counts as one year.
Licenses
“Associate” Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
Skills
General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services
Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
Proven experience applying sound judgment to make decisions.
Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues.
Mentor to junior engineers, specialists, and designers.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering
Professional Engineering License issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects
