The Role
As an GemFire Administrator at Kyndryl, you will be responsible for the administration, operation, and support of VMware Tanzu GemFire / Apache Geode platforms that enable high‑performance, low‑latency, and highly available applications.
In this role, you will manage distributed memory data platforms that support business‑critical workloads. You will work closely with application, middleware, and SRE teams to ensure platform stability, performance, resilience, and compliance with defined service levels. Your work directly contributes to delivering reliable, scalable, and high‑availability solutions in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and operate VMware Tanzu GemFire / Apache Geode platforms, including configuration and maintenance of distributed memory data grid clusters.
Configure and manage GemFire clusters, including regions, replication, partitioning, and integration with backend systems.
Support mission‑critical applications requiring high availability and low latency, ensuring platform reliability and performance.
Monitor platform health, analyze performance metrics, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve issues within defined SLAs.
Manage platform lifecycle activities such as patching, upgrades, resilience enhancements, and technical documentation in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Required Skills and Experience
3+ years of experience administering and operating VMware Tanzu GemFire / Apache Geode or similar memory data grid platforms.
Strong knowledge of distributed in‑memory databases supporting high‑performance, low‑latency applications.
Hands‑on experience configuring GemFire clusters, including regions, replication, partitioning, and failover mechanisms.
Proven experience supporting production environments, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and SLA adherence.
Experience managing platform availability, resilience, recovery, patching, and upgrades.
Intermediate English proficiency for technical documentation and collaboration with global teams.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience in integrating memory data platforms with application layers and backend systems.
Familiarity with SRE, middleware, or DevOps operating models.
Experience working in enterprise or business‑critical environments with high availability requirements.
Strong documentation skills and experience contributing to operational standards and runbooks.
